I sampled the two 2004 Dayi Menghai 7542's from puerh shop this week.
The Dali is dry, with nothing too special. Brewed gongfu, it was much milder than I was expecting. I believe Lerxst2112 and I shared a 2001 or 2002 dayi 7542 a very long time ago that was much more potent (flavour wise) than these 04's.
The menghai Storage one is very different. It has the normal puerh flavours and is a touch darker than the dali, but on top of those normal pu flavours is this strange whirling mix of unfocused, fuzzy flavours that really felt odd. My mouth buzzed and fuzzed and tingled, my head became heavy and cloudy, and I ultimately felt very tense and stressed after drinking it.
Please note i'm not bashing this tea - I'm just writing about my experience.
In short, I'm putting the rest of the sample away for a while.
