Tacha Teapot Artist Gathering

by auhckw » Dec 15th, '12, 07:47

Today, Tacha has invited a few teapot artists and also Tacha's custom teapot partner (经典陶坊 - jīng diǎn táo fāng) for a talk. The artists brought along some of their teapots for sale.

Normally, this area is for Tacha's custom teapots, Factory #1 teapots and Puerh. But today, only artists teapots were displayed.

This is 1/3 of the crowd. Some of the guests are other tea shop's owners

It was a crowded day. So, the question... How much are the artist's teapots?

Depending on the artist, the price range from:
MYR 3.5k (USD 1.1k) - only 2
MYR 10k (USD 3.3k)
MYR 30k (USD 10k)
MYR 80k (USD 26.6k)
MYR 150k to MYR 300k (USD 50k to USD 100k)

How many were sold? In 3 hours, 24 out of 30 artist teapots were sold.

Here are the super expensive ones...

Seeing is believing. It was like night market. People spend so much money and making decision instantly. I can only say 'Wowwwwwwwwwwww'

Thanks for sharing. Those were some stunning teapots, and those of us who haven't won the lottery can only appreciate them when they're shared like this.

Meanwhile, I'm loving my morning tea made in much more affordable but quite beloved teawares by artisans here on TeaChat.

I think it's a real eye opener to see how things are done in Asia. Money can move very fast and freely like nothing I've ever seen. A sort of feeding frenzy only seen in the ladies department of chain stores in America when something goes on sale. And on Black Friday, when there is a new toy on the market.

Wow, thanks for the pictures and story, auhckw.

I don't think that I'd ever buy something with that ratio of cost-to-fragility. If I owned something like that, it would have to have a deeply personal connection with somebody or some event... but, that's probably just me...
