I did not time it intentionally to line up with xmas, but I just placed my first order at Artistic Nippon... hoping it arrives safely and serves me well.

Happy Holidays, TeaChat friends! I hope you all have a joyous and peaceful time with your loved ones.

I had no TeaWishes for Christmas this year. That doesn't mean there are no TeaWishes, of course, just none that coincided with Christmas time. :)

Todays's tea will likely be Maiko's Sencha Kamo. I've been drinking this the "lazy sencha" way lately: combining 2 steeps of 4 oz each in a larger yunomi. Very enjoyable.

I really, really don't need anything right now-on the contrary I need to make a serious dent in my tea stash and perhaps offload a few pieces of teaware on my friends.

Need and want are, ofc, different things. :P Bought a smallish pot I figured I could use at work but after that no more purchases for a loooong time.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I bought my own Christmas tea-gifts--a Seong-Il teapot and a Cheol server, plus some tea from the New Century Tea Gallery. Buying teaware is so subjective ... I feel much safer getting my own! :D

On the other hand, my best friend just surprised me with the most excellent Christmas present ever--a gongfu tea table. He is now officially the best friend ever!

I'm with you on this point - especially something so personal as a Seong-il teapot! I solved the problem by showing the resident coffee drinker photos of one of the newest pots. Since Chanukah has passed I've been able to enjoy the pot for a few weeks.

This was my Chanukah present - just the Seong-il teapot. The Seong-il tray and cup are previous purchases Is it a Kyusu if its Korean, or is there another name to describe a Korean side-handled pot?

Brews chinese green tea beautifully but I'm waiting for some Sencha to arrive to further test the pot.

12/25/12: I just figured out how to use Flickr on my iPad to get an image bigger than a thumbnail and smaller than the original.

Oo, that's one of the special editions Tead offered recently, isn't it? I remember the colors being really spectacular on that piece--and given who made it, I'm sure it pours beautifully!

That's it - and to my eye the pot is prettier than the picture. The charcoal in Seong-il's photo is really green and It does pour beautifully. I didn't 'need' a new pot, but when I saw the photo I wanted it.

I am hoping for a tall narrow cabinet to store my teaware and teas in (running out of room on my VERY limited counter space in my small apartment. Also maybe a yixing.. but really anything tea realated would be nice.

But.. actually, the best present for me this year is my niece, who lives and works in Japan was able to come home (along with her Australian boyfriend - 1st time meeting him). Tea is nice, but family is better :D

I asked for a few things, mostly tea and a few teacups. Got some Japanese Teas from Charaku-tea from my list. A Yame Gyokuro, and a Sencha ( whose name is escaping me right now).

Not on my list but also given to me this holiday was a Chasen Stand, and a tiny tea scoop.

Looking forward to them!

I got a surprise teagift. My girlfriend's mother gave me a sushi cup she found while cleaning out her house. Heehee yay! :D
