Den's Tea, Gyokuro Suimei. This is some really nice gyo, right here. deep Umami and a certain crisp taste that I get from shizuoka teas. I miss that their aren't as many Shizuoka teas on the market these days, Kogoshima has become vastly popular especially in light of the disaster. This mainly pertains to sencha though. as far as Gyo goes I mostly drink Uji selections, but I really love both shizuoka and yame as well.

Not on as much due to being at my parents house, and everything being a bit busy for the holidays. But today I had a ZeDa Sejak brewed grandpa style. Worked decently. I for some reason have been unable to make that tea shine.

A Korean Yip-cha. I have never heard of it before but received a sample with an order I had. It looks like it is made up of older more developed leaves. Nod bad grandpa style, not sure how it would do under more stress.

Charaku-tea's Yame Gyokuro.

Origin: Hoshino Village, Yame Fukuoka Prefecture.
Cultivar: Yabukita.

Oh Gyokuro how I have missed you. Sweet, Umami, and lots of goodness.

Believe it or not, I still have some of the NOTTI tea's so Tenjo is on deck. Should be a good pairing with all those holiday chocolates around this place.

Just made a nice blend... emptied out the Honyama sencha but it was a little on the light side, so I added a touch of Tenry to the mix. My guess is 90% Honyama, and 10% Tenryu.

Very nice and sweet sencha blend. Almost too smooth and easy drinking.

Still on NOTTI teas. Tenryu for a nice new years eve tea. I honestly wish I had a bigger tea pot home to brew this in.

This year I restrained myself and didn't overbuy delicate greens. As a result I have my supply of Puerh and a few odds and ends. Today I'm concentrating on green odds and ends. I began the day with Gyokuro Tsuru Jirushu, followed by Dens Sencha Yame (probably 2 years old - a sealed sample. Last but not least, Mara from the Xell OTTI. The Mara was as good as i recall, and the Yame came out surprisingly good - I think all the OTTI and NOTTI experience have dramatically improved my Sencha brewing technique.

All in all a good start to the tea year.

Working on An Ji Bai Cha this afternoon, after starting the day with leftover oolong leaves from last night. Tasty, but this pouch is starting to show it's age. Should have finished if off quicker after opening.

I cracked open a bag of Ippodo's obukucha yesterday. I've been alternating between that and the Kaboku I opened a few days ago.
