What's in yixing clay?

by MarshalN » Jan 7th, '13, 09:05

Last year I got some folks to do laser spectroscopy on two yixing pots I have. Here are the results. Those of you worried about lead can feel assured that among the two pots I gave them and a few other yixing pieces they've tested in the past, there's no lead (Pb) in any of them.

There are also some interesting charts of the elements found in Yixing pots in the two articles I mentioned here (different methodology, but same idea).

The sample IDs are the same as in that post as well.

The interesting thing in this one is that, while it's probably just one sample per type, there is at least some sort of attempt to show the differences in composition between different types of clay.

There are some other charts / graphs in here, as well as a lot of text, but it's all in Chinese.
