Ode to the Kyusu
Re: Ode to the Kyusu
Very nice, David! It seems our French Japanese tea drinkers have a preference for porcelain over clay?

Oh wow, that's a lovely find! I'm jealous!

I wouldn't say that... But I like it from time to time, especially with a good asamushi sencha with little to no umami.
My new kyusu has arrived. I will post photos later.

"near to perfect pour" ? you mean perfect !
The size, the shape, each detail looks really nice.
It is an everyday pleasure to touch, feel this clay under his fingers and see it evolve during the years.
Thanks for sharing David.

Simply gorgeous! Love those imprints whereby the spout and handle are joined to the main body

New pot (my first) came in today! Pardon the pictures, only had my BB phone camera to work with
Love how this kyusu feels in the hand! Feels like it's rough hewed from a chunk of something
Up-close the finishing does not seem perfect I must admit but I think this adds to it's allure
Gisui Tokoname Natural Red Clay kyusu (370ml)

Edit: Added pot volume

Lovely looking pot
Do the holes of the filter meet the pot wall on the underside of the filter?

Tachi Masaki after a quick bath and ready for sencha. This Kyusu may be the most meticulously crafted Kyusu I currently have to brew.

Thank you! I can't have a direct view of the underside but from what I feel with my fingers, yes they do meet the pot wall. Does it affect the function if they do/don't?
