What are your favourite pu snacks?

by ChengduCha » Jan 10th, '13, 22:43

I think shu pu goes along well with lots of savory sweet snacks, but most of them tend to cover the finer taste of sheng.

I recently tend to eat freshly steamed jujube (chinese red date) with sheng and it goes along well with most shengs, but I'd like to try some different things.

I eat raw almonds. I find them to have a neutral flavor so they don't interfere with the tea.

I tried almonds like TokyoB - but with some young sheng they seem to highlight the tea's astringency, as almonds might be too creamy/sweet.

Today I tried walnuts - bingo! For me they work just fine.

Mochi. Toasted, Japanese, Korean or Chinese style.

I like to pair really robust puerh with dry cured salami.

Now THAT is interesting! I'll have to try that.
I like baklava with my pu, especially a strong shu. Can't go wrong with nuts and honey!
I also find pears are good with certain sheng. My grandfather had a big anjou pear tree in his backyard when I was young, so eating them brings back memories of my childhood.

I drink pu (and oolong) before, during and after meals, pretty much all day!

SnackIng would defeat the purpose for me. I use Puerh for its miraculous
wait-loss properties.
