No strong feelings on this one. Perusing his credits in Wikipedia, I have only seen one feature by him, and I'm still not sure how I feel about the Star Trek reboot. But the same sensibility applied to Star Wars might work fine, if he gets a good script to work with.

If it's not an improvement on the last few, it would be better if there weren't another at all....

I could do with a lot less lens flare and tilted camera angles. So I really hope that the new star wars are not like the other jj abrams films and also not like the prequels either. The world could use a lot fewer crappy franchise movies.

I'm glad you asked because I'm terribly conflicted. I really liked the Star Trek reboot but I hate Star Wars in general. I will probably not ever watch it intentionally, but I won't avoid it if it happens to me.

I'm almost scared to say this in public, but Star Wars movies always fail to meet my memory of Star War movies. I don't expect I'll bother re-watching any.

As for Abrams, he has a talent for making films/series that make art house stuff seem very fast moving. Lost for example.

Interesting. For me it's the opposite. For instance, I recently learned that Anakin was the chosen one of the prophecy after all. By killing the Emperor in episode 6, he was the one who ultimately brought balance to the Force - not Luke.

I didn't find that too subtle. Wasn't that almost directly said in one of the movies?

Maybe. I don't recall. I haven't seen 6 in a while, which would be the place to mention it.

I am more ... interested in the Star Trek prequel sequel ...

Although I have seen every Star Wars flick, I have never been able to get to up for Star Wars while gobbling up anything Star Trek. Why is that? :?

... which is why I am the moderator. The only qualification being that I am a horrible person.

Do I fire a phaser at you or vaporize you with a light saber. Eh, all I was given was a ban-hammer!!! I would choose phaser ... though I have been known to whip out my "air light saber" from time to time complete with vocalized sound effects and slay the Mrs. and others.
