A Spring 2012 Dong Ding oolong from Peonyts.com. Not bad at all considering the price. Need to watch the steeping time however, just a tad bit too long and the astringency gets bold.

Just enjoyed 3 infusions of Thai oolong #12 prepared as if it was a green tea. Next time I'll treat it more like an oolong (higher temp). It's okay & suits my need for variety. I've been in Thailand a month w/ less teas packed & it really showed me how much I've come to rely on having several good teas on hand. Less than that is now not enough only about a year after getting serious w/ tea.
Fairly simple taste, no bitterness & different than the 2 I have. Variety is the spice of life, so it is said.

this is excellent, but i have little experience of alishan to compare against

fruity aroma in the pot with the familiar 'taiwan' overtone

A nice session today with Mountain Tea's Li Shan oolong, delicate and floral. It was alternated with some Sunpu Boucha--hard to imagine a more dramatic contrast than this vs the toasty Sunpu.

I am alternating between 2 Dan Cong bought from a local shop:
- a Spring 2006 Zhi Lan Xiang (orchid)
- a Spring 2010 Mi Lan (honey orchid)
They are both good, but I really prefer the second one. I will buy it again.
What is interesting is that either I am influenced by names and under placebo effect, or the names are really descriptive. They both have this orchid dominant flavor, and the second has some honey sweetness on top. Just like in their names. Anyway, second one is more complex than first one. It is like the first one plus an extra dimension. This is why I prefer it.

Just watch out for that 'name influence' if you try Ya Shi ('duck waste') or Zei Shi ('thief poop').

Cing Jing Taiwan High Mountain Oolong. Reminiscent of Da Yu Ling, complex and very subtle tea. Really enjoying an oolong I never tried before.

Charcoal Roasted Dong Ding from Norbu, a toasty-roasty tea that just adds a deep feeling of comfort on a chilly day, reading about storms and wishing the office had a better heating system.

Was walking to the gym drinking some longan and ginger tea and discovered a tea store packed with goodies! Can't remember the name of the place, but it's parallel to where my dad's factory once was. I felt my TAD kick in. As Tim suggested, I asked them what they were famous for and the guy laughed and said we have loads of teas! This exchange went down entirely in Cantonese. I asked him what he was and he said Chiuchow, so I said let me check out your SX. He laughed and showed me some and told me the price: very reasonable. I was about to take some. I asked him if he had higher grades and I decided to spring for the best.

I then asked about TGY and he said it was priced the same way, so I took a tael of that too. He had a nice little shuiping I may have to take off his hands too: a thicker sandy duan ni pot that is exactly what I want for shu.

I am about to fire up the SX :) right around the corner I had some excellent DHP, but it was VERY expensive. The pots were 'new' and overpriced too. I'm starting to get the hang of this tea thing :)

Excellent SX! Mildly fruity and with great hui gan. Very smooth, well stored, nice looking leaf and the aftertaste lingers. No bitterness, very smooth and it has absolutely put a smile on my face! Can't wait to try their TGY!
