Re: Fixing Teapot's Spout
The silver clay shrinks during firing, I believe, so you could not simply mold it in place.

You could try a DIY kintsugi kit: http://ifixit.org/1577/kintsugi-better-than-new/
Tell us how it works. If you need spouts to adhere, I have old pots that might work. You would need some Dremel tool skills

yeah...these suggestions sound great but sound so complicated that the pot will probably suffer too much damage. I'm going to take MarshalN's cue and just let it be.

Here's a kit using actual urushi and gold powder........ not sure about the other previous one. Note that using urushi is a serious case of "poison ivy" waiting to happen .

Please do! I'd imagine a kiln is the safer route to go. A blowtorch on Yixing may not end up so well! Then again, you could always mold the clay, make sure it's a bit loose to account for the shrinkage, and then fire it separately. Looking forward to hearing your experience.gasninja wrote:I am thinking about giving the silver clay a shot.
I have an older shui ping with a broken spout ,a torch and a kiln.
I'll post pics when I give it a shot.

The silver and gold prescious metal clay shrink a LOT. The standard version shrinks 30%. The fancy new one (expensive) shrinks about 15%.
