Official what GREEN are you currently drinking?
Re: Official what GREEN are you currently drinking?
Korean Green Tea was calling my name today, so I dug deep in my stash and pulled out Ze Da Sejak Green tea. I actually have more of this left than I thought I did.
It is a very nice tea, delicate up front, but the real surprise is when you pay attention to its finish..... Wowza! Hint of lavender, pine, and chocolate, with an odd matcha sensation to match.

That's interesting. I always thought I was well on my own with that
When I get a new tea I always try higher at first but always end up backing off to that range.

Organic Arya Emerald Darjeeling Gran Tea (Second flush) from canton tea co......which I just found out is about 10 mins drive from my house.
Anyway its very pleasant. Very very subtle. You can basically brew it however you like. I doubt I'll buy it again but its a nice break. Don't think I've hit the sweet spot with the brewing parameters yet though, even though its all good.

Re: Official what GREEN are you currently drinking?
The letter carrier arrived with my Hibiki-An karigane tasting set just as I was attempting to select a tea for this morning. I started at the top with the Gyokuro Karigane Superior. I brewed it like gyokuro because that's what worked best with O-Cha Asa-giri gyokuro karigane. It came out very mild and mellow, not at all like the strong flavor of the Asa-giri. Despite the designation of "superior" there's also a premium and a superior premium, both of which cost more than the plain ordinary superior! I'll try slightly hotter water tomorrow. Maybe the 140 degree water wasn't enough to bring out the flavor.

Please show that "Nerikome of Goodwill". It might inspire me to go shopping there.

Look here:

I had to check it out again because I've been lusting after a nerikomi Kyusu since I first saw them. I just recently bought a nerikomi Kyusu and cup from Artistic Nippon. I'm sure mine cost more but it's ok because after looking at the goodwill kyusus I love mine more.
I spent 2 years on Teachat before I developed TAD.

A forum member Iannon ( Ian) RIP, would browse all sorts of online shops, and one he would often frequent is the online goodwill retail outlet. One day he found a set of three of these up for auction, they were horribly labeled by Goodwill ( I believe as the story goes they actually listed them as being made of glass). Ian recognized them instantly for what they were, and snapped them up. It was some absurdly low price, ( by that I mean he got all three for less than any one of them should retailed).
Well as Chip, Ian and I would often spend time on the chat talking teas and teaware, Ian in his goodwill, sent one off to Chip and one off to myself.

That's a beautiful reminiscence.
I could understand that someone from Goodwill with no particular expertise in ceramics would associate the swirls created by the nerikomi technique with glass, especially if the surface of the pot is glossy.
I'm using it today to brew the Gyokuro Karigane from the Hibiki-an sampler. Better than yesterday but I don't know if its the pot or the slightly higher temperature.

Really getting impressed with Maiko, I did not find their Shincha selection that great from my first order, but my second order is all great. I tried Yamashita Jirushi last night, great gyokuro IMO. Had Kotobuki ( I think thats how you spell the matcha) this morning made Koicha style, mmmm mmmm mmm!

Order that tea the past two yrs, and haven't been able to get it to sing for me. The YM, for a deeper steamed tea, was much for flavorful. Then again, I'm not a huge fan of deep steamed teas in general.
At the moment, sencha Maruyama from Maiko. Lovely asamushi.

That is such a savory tea with many subtle nuances. As you said, hard to get bored of this one.
Speaking of which, Maruyama was my morning tea. Now I've moved on to a bowl of Sayaka no Mukashi matcha from Ippodo. The neon green glow is starting to kick in.

Liu An Gua Pian from JK Teas -
Gotten better at brewing this one and it is quite tasty. Nice umami flavor with good mouthfeel and just a hint of a TGY note.
