Yuuki-Cha's Matcha Iri Genmaicha from Uji. Tastes exactly as I expected it to taste, even though I had never tasted genmaicha before (although I did taste roasted rice in Pakistan).
Awesome!

Not what you should be finding to drink at a sushi restaurant...

Re: Official what GREEN are you currently drinking?
These last few weeks have been bitter sweet. My lower grade everyday go-to no-fuss tea,Takaokaya: Aracha Deep Steamed Green Tea, has turned into a very bitter brew. My lower priced teas have'nt been very consistent, package to package. I was starting to run out of my higher grade greens; Orita-En: Tokujo Fukamushi & Maeda-En: 2012 New Crop Shin-Cha Gold, so I've been looking around for replacements. Today, finally, I'm in heaven sipping on O-Cha's Kagoshima Sencha Yutaka Midori. Wow this is a thick, deep green, mellow, yet deep and complex tea. A star!

I take it you've never been to a sushi restaurant?
Not really... only once, in Paris... but I didn't drink much tea back then
The sushi bars on the other hand...

Organic Yame Hoshino Sencha. It is delicious and mild... sweetish, even more so than my Gyokuro.
It arrived yesterday together with the Genmaicha. Both from Yuuki-Cha. This is what Yuuki-Cha has to say about it:
But somehow this camera refuses to capture that beautiful green colour
It looks the same green as the box but it definitely isn't.
*Edit: I changed the pic*

The special point about this sencha's cultivation is that just prior to harvesting the grower directly covers the tea bushes for about 7 days with black netting which blocks around 50% of sunlight. This coverage is similar to kabusecha, only shorter. The coverage does two things, it causes the leaf pigment to become greener, and increases the amino acid and chlorophyll content in the new growth. The purpose behind this is to give the resulting tea a greener infusion color and a sweeter deeper taste.
But somehow this camera refuses to capture that beautiful green colour

Matcha Kotobuki from Maiko... Oh so delicoius. It rivals Ipoddo's Matcha in my opinion.

Organic Kagoshima Sencha Shimofuri
Now this is very nice after my last disappointment. Fruity and light but with a strong unami for asa. This will be first on the list come shincha season
Edit: weird its not asa.

Yame Gyokuro from O-Cha. Delicious as always, although this morning the liquor was a bit dark and torbid... as was my mood. I guess what Teaparker says is true: "each brew is a response to our imputs".

Sencha Kuritawase (from the recent NOTTI) mixed with Sencha Karigane from Hibiki-An. The Karigane cuts the bitterness down to a comfortable level (for me) while not obscuring the rich flavor of the Kuritawase. Thanks to Chip for the suggestion.

This is my first attempt at matcha
This is my first attempt at matcha :

Matcha came today! Mixed it in a normal bowl
how sacrilege!
It looks pretty foamy, though I hope to do even better. The Matcha was much "greener" than I thought ti would be but I'm already excited about having some tomorrow.
The little canister won't last long!
I'm waiting for what might be a too-small chawan to coem in the mail. I want to at least try it before buying a bigger one.
Still have not found one that I like. Is it too much to want it to be pink?
