Pity there's only one pu-erh in the Chinese sample box The others are mostly whites and greens, which are too astringent for me...
The pu has a rather 'buttery' quality, which I like.

Just dilute it. Add some more hot water from the kettle. Pour it into a small pitcher if needed, if there's not enough room in the cup, add a little hot water from the kettle, taste a sip, and dilute little by little until you get what you want.Maneki Neko wrote:It was just a bit too strong....I've never seen such dark tea before in my life!

It definitely does go well with oily foods! I had it with a Kashmiri naan bread which is quite 'rich' food

This never works for me. The diluted tea has a different taste than the tea brewed for the correct time. Anyone else experience this?
Not that it hasn't stopped me from trying when I over-steep a round.
This is one more reason I'm such and enthusiastic convert to smaller teapots. Messing up is less costly of an error.

I have received some samples from Tea Urchin. Today I began with the 2012 Spring Man Zhuan. Very nice and balanced for the price, as far as I am concerned anyway.

2011 Puerh.sk Yibang. Very thick body that seems to coat your mouth. I have yet to repeat the mindblowingly good session Yhay I had with the sample of this tea. I think it may have been an isolated incident as this was possibly the least favorite (based on reviews from his site)of Petre's 2011 teas . Still I am glad I got a cake.

Yesterday night my China order finally came A lot of tuition tea
Had some quick brew of 2012 Yi Wu Wild Bacillus. Tasted like white tea or flora tea. It's a nice light tea with good huigan. Aroma in the mouth lasted for about 30-45mins after I stop drinking.
For some reason my body feels really hot for the night even in air condition room. The heat seems to be from within the body also more awake. Chaqi?
My wife felt the same when I asked her in the morning. She drank some also. The temperature of was about 28 degree C last night.
Edit: I believe I should use gaiwan to get better taste off it. Wild bacillus should have sweet taste, which I didn't get much of. I think the water was too hot
A 357g cake cost 28RMB. The seller sells a lot of fake wrappers and unbranded pu erh, but this is one of the few I see people buying in multiples.
Edit: If anyone from Singapore and maybe Malaysia wants to try this can pm me, I can send u a little to try

TwoDog's Naka 2007 (that Elephant one). I quite enjoyed it, seems very well stored, has still plenty of strength, etc. I'd like it a bit sweeter I guess, but in today's craziness, a well stored 2007 tea for $35 sounds good in itself.
Naka tastes interesting. I had only Naka in bamboo previously and attributed some taste components to the bamboo. However, this elephant cake is a no-bamboo one and it also has some of these characteristic tastes.

Mt Feng2008 XT. The cake I recieved seems to be a little more damp than the sample I recieved. This could very well be the result of a tea merchant being aware of my preference for more humid storage. No funkiness or. But the cake I recieved seems a little more like a 2004 than a 2008. Still same great aftertaste a strong qi. I think tomorrow I I will have a go at the 07 MXL.

Most of the afternoon and Evening so far I have been sipping on Grandpa Style Aged Puerh. I didn't have enough 80's Wild Arbor puerh from Origin tea for another pot, so I threw it in a bowl and brewed the heck out of it. Delicious and beautiful seasoning of my Buncheong teabowl, no where as nice as Brandon's, but I really enjoy how simple and elegant this bowl is.

My taste is way too expensive. I really wanted to like this 8-year old sheng, but it's still too green and vegetative.
I wanted to like some shu I got... but it's shu, it's rich chocolate and boring as heck.
(I'd mention the name but these were gifts)
Don't have much good tea left... gotta try to save it.

Had this just now. Not sure if it's real xing ban zhang, but it's value for money to me It'll likely taste even better when it aged. It's been 2hours after I stopped drinking. There's still hint of its aroma in my mouth
Edit: They having pre-order for 2013 batch at slightly less than 50RMB Maybe will buy a ti to keep.
