Re: Patina vs. Rings

I like the smooth look from careful polish. It need not be dramatic. And I just can't see leaving patina on a used pot, I'd want to start over.

I wonder if the tea you drink has an impact, I'd think shu-puerh would get a patina very quickly -- but white tea would take ages.

I'm sure the type of tea makes a big difference. My other pots don't look quite so stained, but they're darker clay too so I don't think it shows up as well either. I'm expecting this pot's twin brother to show up tomorrow and he's going to be used for lighter oolongs, so I guess I'll find out soon enough.

That's awesome!!!!
I love the yixing "workhorse" look!

I have one which is a little bit of a hybrid - one of my 40ml pots. I buff it, but it still has a super dark ring around the pot just under the lid. I can't seem to buff it out, but I don't mind :) it shows that it's loved and used a lot!

I just received this pot's twin brother so I thought I'd do a quick photo shoot to compare the differences.

The pot on the left has seen about 2 months of dark oolong use, the pot on the right is brand new and will be for lighter oolongs.

Nice Muadeeb. Could you take a pic of the inside and under lid? Many Thanks ~ T

The new one is being seasoned right now, but here's a shot of the older one.
