Wow, Teng Ting-Sou (Deng Ding-Sou?) is an artist and
an innovator, I'm very glad to know who invented this kind of teapot. I may need to start saving so I can get one some day. This is a very new idea I see now, and so the only way to get one is to buy it from an artist. Makes the price seem so much more reasonable. It just can't
be bought mass-produced... and it takes great skill, if the lid is not airtight
this pot will not work!
Just knowing what they are called has helped me to find so many articles! I don't know if it is true that this makes the tea better since it isn't pushed to one side of the pot when pouring... and since less air can escape.
But I wonder if when brewing an rare old tea this would make the later infusions more robust-- it would seem it would better retain heat.
Though for me the elegance and magic of the pouring method is reason enough to want one.
