Whatever you win, it should be doubled because that is a good looking Chawan!vacuithe wrote:My new Chawan, purchased for the office.

Beautiful new chawan vacuithe!
I'm with rdl - can we see more?
I'd love to see the koudai (foot).
Congrats on being the 1st post on the 100th page!
ps - if you wanted to, I'd also be interested in the artist/maker and where you got it.

It's a french potter who made this bowl : David Louveau de La Guigneraye.
his website : http://www.terreetfeu.fr/
I picked up this bowl when I visited him 2 weeks ago, he was performing a Nanban firing. I made about +500 pics
you can see him a few pics of this firing on my blog : http://vacuithe.blogspot.fr/2013/03/nanban-firing.html

The too-small chawan came today. I really love it. I love how it fits in my hands. (I'm a very small person)
I got it nice and warm and gave it a shot, and sadly I can't get as nice foam in this small vessel.
But I like it so much so I *do* think I'll look for a nodate chasen.
(thank you all for your help with this!)

Re: Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)
I found a pottery shop last night that was selling student's work for one night only, so I picked up a matcha cup and saucer. I hadn't planned on getting into matcha so soon, but it was too good a deal to pass up for such pretty pieces. These will sit on the shelf until I'm ready to take the dive into Japanese greens.
I really like the sun and stars look of the inside.
And the saucer seems to fit, even though they were made by different students.

Now I just need good matcha, a strainer, a scoop, a wisk, and knowing what I'm doing, and I'll be able to drink it! Easy Teasy!
