Welcome TCers to a non-Tea topic today. Stop by and share your tea with us.

Are you feeling S.A.D.? Seasonal Affective Disorder

Well, it has been rainy and/or cloudy and damp for about 27 of the last 30 days here. The Winter Blues it seems are here to stay, at least for a while. Light deprivation or Seasonal Affective Disorder appears to have arrived here in PA. It never really occurred to me that 'the lack of sunshine' can have such dramatic effects on my well-being as much as it did this year.

So, my question is, have you noticed the effects of 'Light Deprivation' or S.A.D. this winter (apologies to our Southern Hemisphere members)?

I am looking forward to sharing with you ... Bottoms up!
Here's to sunny days ahead!

Every winter when S.A.D kicks in I without fail get sad

Alright all puns aside I can often handle it on this side of Jan 1st a bit better than late November into December, as keep an eye on a Daylight calender for my area, I can feel better by realizing each day there should be more and more sun.

It's a very interesting article, Chip, and certainly jibes with my experience. After I got my SAD light, the blues melted away in a couple days--and boy did that feel good!!

So, I've decided I'm 25% plant and NEED light, whilst Hubby Dearest must be 100% fungus because he's always asking me to turn them off.

It's possible it may also have to do with my next semester of school starting... but yeah, it gets dark way too quickly these days.

Texas winters are relatively brief so i never take my flippy floppies off...which as far as im concerned is my number one protection against this SAD nonsense.
What you need is a kiddy pool, some island music, a few tasty beverages and some sunglasses. Put your feet in and stare up at the overhead light with a space heater cranked up to high near by. SAD no more.
Not working? Pick up some sand at the local hardware store and sprinkle a little on your body (dont forget in the trunks for a true an authentic summer replication).

Well, I'm not feeling the Seasonal Affective Disorder, but I am feeling the Shincha Anticipation Disorder. April can't get here fast enough!

Will the sun come out tomorrow? Spring is absurdely late here, fellows. It's been almost a whole month of rain and clouds and most of the trees don't have leaves yet. Northern Italy is renowned for being cold, foggy and humid during autumn/winter months but dammit! this is getting too far!
I feel the winter blues for the first time and I'm making huge quantities of greens and wulongs to fight them off. Argh!

The April Fools joke here is that while it looks like spring it feels like winter. I'm determined to put my heavy heavy down coat away until next year and just wear my light winter coat so a small improvement in the weather.
