Nathmulls vs. Nathmulls

by Vega » Apr 18th, '13, 15:24

Would anyone happen to know the difference between the following:

http://www.nathmulls.in

and

http://nathmulltea.com/

?

Both claim to be founded by Nathmull Sarda in 1931, but when I contacted them, they confirmed that they're not the same company.

I recently ordered a fantastic 2013 1st flush from nathmulls.in (just writing about it is making me crave it) so I've got no concerns as to the quality, but wondered if anyone knows the back story here. I'm thinking they may both be relatives that opened their separate shops.

Fascinating. .com says it's run by Vijay Sarda, and .in by Madhav Sarda. Both were sons of ("the prematurely deceased") Nandlall Sarda, who was the son of the founder Nathmull Sarda. Vijay seems to have the original storefront.

I know of a similar business setup in Nepal (not tea-related).

Good observation -- probably they did decide to go their own separate ways. The .in site is more order-friendly with a nice storefront. In any case, it's all in the gardens. Which reminds me, about time to restock.. :D
