Eat Green Tea?

by Ecruteak » Jun 11th, '13, 01:03

Hello everybody! I just joined. I recently picked up an interest in tea and I'm looking for some reliable general info regarding tea and its preparation, etc.

More specifically, I'm looking for high-quality green tea/herbal tea/other teas, that are loose-leaf, organic, and have been tested for heavy metals.

I've come across a few websites that seem promising. Even one that claims that you can eat the leaves? Do you guys know anything about this company? There doesn't seem to be much info.

Recommend me some teas as well(I like teas that have purported health and cognitive benefits)!

Hi Ecruteak,

I agree, not much information on that [EDIT added] eatgreentea [end EDIT] site. It is not generally a good sign when superlatives such as the 'purest, organic tea in the world' are used to describe a product that has NO pertinent information in the description.

Also I noticed most of the comments are from previous years. Basically, I would not be interested in purchasing green tea from this vendor.

Hey guys! My name is Anthony Codispoti and I'm the founder of EatGreenTea. Thought I would step in to answer some of your questions. When I first started this company I purchased samples from organic green tea farms all over the world. I then sent those samples to a lab here in America to have them tested for the presence of heavy metals. We chose the farm that had the purest tea we could find anywhere. That's the product that we're proud to offer to our customers.

Let me know if you have any other questions that I can answer.

Thanks,
Anthony

OK, as you know in my email to you, I pointed you to the forum rules which state replies from a vendor about their products must be first directed to the forum moderator(s). You have chosen to ignore this ... or you decided not to read the forum rules.

In any case, since you opened up Pandora's box ...
We chose the farm that had the purest tea we could find anywhere.

The above quote from your post is much different from your speak on your site where you boast repeatedly:
We are proud to present to you the purest Green Tea leaves available anywhere on the planet.
We tested samples from organic farms all over the world to find the purest, most potent green tea available anywhere.
This is not simply misleading, it is false advertising. The use of superlatives stating that you have the purest teas on earth implies you have tested every single batch of tea produced at a given point in time, which is impossible of course. Either that or you are claiming nobody has found more pure teas implying that you have tested all your competitors' teas ... which of course you have not.

But Joe and Jane consumer do not know this. They take you at your word. It is this brand of marketing that draws the ire of not just the knowing consumers such as those found here on TeaChat, but those in the industry who must sell their teas honestly. It is really quite an unfair and unethcal practice.

Hey Anthony! That heavy metals test is pretty impeccable. I would boast that on your website. However, it is around three years old, people like to see updated info. I would also like to read more about where the tea is sourced, as would most others.

Although it's unknown whether it's the most potent, and pure, it seems to be a great product (referencing the heavy metals testing) and something I'd like to know more about! For everybody interested, I included a link of the lab analysis that was sent to me via email.

Thanks Anthony. : D

Also, thanks Chip!

Anthony,

Exactly how many teas in 2012 -2013 did you have tested before choosing the 2 on your site? ... can you provide lab reports on these as well?

Your lab report was for 2009 harvest teas at best, maybe even older? When exactly were your current 2 offerings harvested?

Lab testing is not cheap. I am sure you did not have 100's or 1000's of teas tested.
