I hope it goes well for them. Its says they should be able to produce tea next year! And they are growing their plants from seeds, this makes me very happy, as I too am growing my own from seeds. And trying oh, so hard to be patient. But it is fun to watch my babies grow up and I will appreciate them more since I took the harder route.
Indoor or outdoor? When I lived in CNY, during winter, I spent 0.5 hour daily averagely digging out my car from the snow The coldest tea growing zones I know of are in Shanxi and Shandong with warmer regional climates than the rest of their provinces, only slightly colder than where they grow tea in South Carolina.
Where there is a will there is a way. Saw this new wine region in northern china in the seattle film festival's screening of 'Red Obsession' ( great movie btw if you are interested in wine and china ).
