O-cha or Den's?
I'm thinking of picking up the gift set from O-cha or something from Den's...Anyone have any experience with Den's? I haven't heard much about them.

I'd like to second Scruff... Gyokuro does get a lot of attention... But if you were to offer me a free bag of Japanese green tea, I'd take a top quality sencha over a top quality gyokuro any day of the week.

Gyokuro is great, but I will only buy a bag or two of gyo a year if that. Sencha, I find, is the best.

Den's air ships their tea to the states, and then puts it in cold storage - super fresh.

My favorites from Den's is the Fuka Maki and the Guri-cha. Good stuff, well worth trying.

I picked up the Fuka-midori and the Guricha from Den's. At those prices, how could I not give them a try?

I had Den's guricha for breakfast and it was superb. If you like Japanese tea, you will love it. It's now among my favorites. Den's is a great vendor, in my book.

O-cha has a lot of top-quality tea. There's not a huge selection, but what's there tends to be the very the best.

Don't forget about www.hibiki-an.com :) They have a nice selection and some of the best values.

3 great vendors Ed!

O-cha chooses the best from across 3 prefectures, Uji, Kagoshima, and Shizuoka.

hibiki-an you are buying direct from the farmer in Uji.

Den's only offers some of the best from the farms of Shizuoka.

Each has its own w00t factor.

I just read Den's tea "about us" page; I didn't know all that about them. I'm looking forward to placing my first order this week or next week.

Den's deserves full credit. They are an old Japanese based tea company, yet they made on outpost right here in good old USA. For this, I am grateful. As far as I know, no other Japanese tea company has done anything remotely like this.

Den's has low shipping, and good tea. A recipe for bliss.

To add to this discussion - my only complaint about o-cha.com is that some of their teas contain too much dust for my taste. Here for example is a quick and dirty comparison with two other 'brands'.

If you like opaque and green, then go for the o-cha.com - I don't know if they sell anything else than some sort of fukamushi senchas.

Photiou, Miyabi is deeper-steamed than the other two sencha you have there. This is not actually tea dust or fannings, it is just smaller leaf particle because of the heavier steaming. I'm sure you would agree that the flavor is nothing to complain about?
