Hi guys, i was wondering if you could recommend me some sites where i could buy some quality oolongs from both china and taiwan (sites like yunnansourcing and teafromtaiwan only offer chinese or taiwanese oolongs, and essence of tea oolongs are quite expensive considering i dont drink that much oolong)
Ty for help
Re: Oolong sampling

Re: Oolong sampling
I get a lot of my oolong from Norbu, who carries a variety of oolong from both sources.
Re: Oolong sampling
Five Star Tea sells both Taiwanese and Wuyi oolongs, and sample sizes are available.
Re: Oolong sampling
Well, Origin has a Chinese TGY and lot of Taiwanese teas and is quality.
I norbu is OK. I haven't had 5-star. And I wouldn't say the others mentioned are great quality.

The original poster wants oolongs that are less expensive than EOT. Is it possible to get great quality wuyi oolongs for significantly less?edkrueger wrote:Well, Origin has a Chinese TGY and lot of Taiwanese teas and is quality.

Re: Oolong sampling
No, but you can't expect great quality at $10.50/25g either. I can think of some I enjoy that are around $4.50/25g.

Re: Oolong sampling
Every shop has it's specialty -- a type of tea that the owner knows and does well. Quite often this is even as narrow as one type of wulong. So generally speaking you are better off getting them from different stores -- ones that specialize in what you're buying. It's actually a pretty good and old rule of thumb around here that you don't buy Taiwanese teas from mainland stores and vice versa.
With that said, Hou De has good Taiwanese and Wuyi yancha. The dancong is not bad, IMO, but it's stuff that brews like Taiwanese and has similar dimensions.

Coincidentally, OTTI 19 will feature a sampling of 5 premium, high-mountain Taiwan oolong from OriginTea. This will go live on Sunday at 6 PM Eastern USA time.
Check out the OTTI forum of TeaChat for information. OTTI = Official Tea Tasting Initiative. Here is a link to the 3 day notification topic, but a new topic will be created on Sunday specifically for this round.
