Lionel OFFER : Yoshiki Murata Kyusu

by Lionel » Jun 28th, '13, 09:27

I beautiful kyusu I bought 2 years ago, that I don't use...
- Yoshiki Murata 村田益規
- kuro (black) tataki (beaten) kyusu
- reduction fired
- 250 ml full
- ball shaped filter
- medium thick walls
- almost never used
It gives quite a neutral effet on the tea.
I bought it 18.000 jpy in 2011, which is now 180 USD or 140 euros. + shipping from France.

Thanks! I have not seen such a textured Yoshiki before.

I have been watching Yoshiki for a few years ... but have not purchased one yet.

So that one is for you ! :D
I bought it with a japanese trader who specially went to Yoshiki-san studio. It is quite rare today to find a "all black" kyusu by Yoshiki (almost have black-red yohen).
And as you say the texture is special too. The tataki - beaten effect is rare too. Every little hammer impact is not smooth, but slightly rugged.

Lionel, nice kyusu and very nice rock collection too. I also use small rocks with my tea sets.

Thank you Victoria ans BioHorn...and nice photo too !
Yes, I have always used a small flat rock to put the lid of my kyusu...
The first rock you see with the 2 parralel lines is one I found in the river next to my parents house, the little river in which I used to go playing when I was a child. I found the second one in the forest next to my house...

It is the mineral component of the tea set, next to the wood of the tray, the clay of the kyusu and of course the vegetal of the tea leaves...
