How many Kilograms of puerh do you own?

by Exempt » Jul 26th, '13, 23:10

I just completed a couple purchases and now have more than 17 kilos of sheng puerh in my pumidor. It doesn't look like a lot in a cabinet, but I think if I told anyone that I have more than seventeen thousand grams of tea they might lock me up. Who else has a ton of tea?

Probably about 30 kilos, total (guesstimate based on weight of boxes).

Do you have an estimate of the total cost and how long it took to acquire?

I don't want to think about this question.

I know. I just bought 5 kilos of tea  and was hoping there were some others as weak as me

To question one, not going to even ponder that question.

Question two, about 4 years.

Enough to get the reactor going...Somewhere around 40 kilos, not counting samples.

Yes, I meant full beengs/bricks/tuos. How long did it take you to collect that much?

About 3-4 years. Much of that time was sampling, then pulling the trigger on fewer, but larger orders.

That's definitely the smart way to do things. I'm trying to make a pact with myself that I won't purchase any more tea for a long time. At the rate I'm going I'll have like 80 kilos before I graduate college. Puerh is not the hobby for people with no self control

Hrm, I think a conservative estimate for me would be about 100kg. I started buying very heavily at the end of 2008 and through 2010. I've pulled back in the last year or so, after (too late) realizing exactly how much tea that really was...! :D

Of course, many of those were not exactly the best purchases in retrospect. But then again, time always tells...

I have about 10 kg. My last order alone was 5 kg. I am slowly drinking my way through it, it's been almost an year and half of it is gone. I made a card for each bing and wrote my review on it, trying to build some kind of system that would guide me in future purchases. It's no use. No way to know what bing to order.

So I am about to get another shipment of 5 kg (8 raw, 7 ripe full bings). I just picked cheap ones. It's a lottery anyway, so, the more chances the better. With 15 pieces I get more chances for good tea.

I chose 10-15 Kg, which is about 50 cakes worth. Since there are lots of cakes in varying degrees of finished, it is about right. Probably half of that is untouched and has been sitting 5 years. After looking at my last big purchase from Taiwan - probably 5Kg - I think I should have moved to the next bracket up.

Nearly 25kg, collected during 3 years. It is time to slow down
