Yeah, pretty much. I think the suit that a collective of farmers began got squashed recently.
The "protection act" actually deobligates farmers from ripping up any GM crops that have been called into question for six months. I have no love for GM foods (they have yet to actually bring benefits, increased yields are a lie), but it is also deplorable for a farmer who, having been forced to pay for a GM seed, to lose his harvest. I do not often invoke the lesser of two evils, but therein is the lesser of two evils.
