1999 CNNP 8582 from Taiwan. Patience through a slow start revealed a rewarding middle session. Nice complexity and character left a pleasant lingering impression on the back of the palate. Entering the final laps over many brews. Dark drippings were a confirmation of the nicety of the entire session. Nice to have an 'end of lecture review.' On my way to granny-powder face. Will have to finish tomorrow.

Sorry, but no flowery, "subtle hints of juju beans and caramel" notes on this review.

Mahei and Hekai are usually crappy..you just need a right vendor.

Mahei village has none of Gushu left but crippled half-Gushus, yet its leaves score the highest price along with GFZ.

So, M..what is your favorite Yiwu? :)

Usually, which means good stuff do exist, but 9 times out of 10 Mahei is crap.

I like my Gaoshan zhai. The right Guafeng zhai stuff is good too, but there are too many crap things out there now.

This has been the case for years, no?

Tea Urchin has very good Gaoshanzhai and Guafengzhai. Not for everyone's budget.

8x's Tian Zi Zhuan. Has a humidity, but considering it to be 80's..it's not the worst.

Brewed color are red, which I Like. I think it's not spoiled yet, just on the verge. This kinds need to be in dry places for years, then will be drinkable I think.

00 Fengqing tuo..loosely compressed with its leaf bigger than Xiaguan, so some has ageness to it. Also slightly cheaper than XG.

A rare find under 100 rmb :D

Having a Menghai 2007 "Secret Fragrance" sheng tonight. Got this in a sample pack to try. Using a gaiwan to keep this one pure. It is called “Secret fragrance” I wish i had an aroma cup for this but I lack one. Goes on shopping list. The first infusion brewed a light pale green color and gave a small hit of tobacco. Second infusion give a deeper golden color and brings out some citrus notes to go with the hit of astringency and tobacco. Interesting on the palate, makes the tongue tingle a bit.It has a small bit of astringency but seems to coat the mouth with an aftertaste of the citrus that lingers for a while. It almost seems to have some floral between the layers of tobacco and citrus. A very interesting sheng. I brewed 13 grams of it in the pot.

EoT 2010 Manmai after 3 years of damp and cold storage seem to lose some of its awful umami taste. It's tea not beef consomme!

2013 YS Gua Feng Zhai -

Flavors are somewhat muted. A bit smokey and thin....which leads to a peculiar flavor. Can't say I'm too crazy about this one.

Agree with you that there are too many crap out there.
I have some Mahei and Gaoshan which I find them very good ....maybe my standard of good tea is low.

I felt like the Manmai was very clean and grassy originally typical Bada tea. Now the 2010 mansai had a meaty taste to it.

Today I pulled out my 2011 Mansai cake. This tea has changed into something nice.I have been really amazed at how much all my teas have aged over this summer.
