Just came across this Japanese series on the tea horse road. It's all in Japanese with no English subtitles, but still interesting none the less...

If I am not mistaken, this is part of the Korean/Japanese produced 'Asian Corridor in Heaven' 6 part series. Shot in flawless HD, you feel like you are there breathing the fresh air and taking in the crystal clear views of the Himalayan range of Eastern Tibet/Yunnan/Sichuan. Watched on an HD TV big screen is ideal.guitar9876 wrote:Just came across this Japanese series on the tea horse road. Re: Japanese Documentary On The Tea Horse Road
Hi all,
First post on Teachat! Anyway, I've watched all but the last 20 minutes so far and it is fantastic. I got to brush some of the rust off my Japanese reading ability and understood most of it except for the many places where some stupid idiot put the Chinese subtitles right on top of the Japanese. Fortunately this problem only occurs when a local is speaking into the camera, which is quite often, actually. But if I can read most of the kanji that means they kept the language as simple as possible.
But man, these are hardy people and with just a little imagination one can see back hundreds, even thousands of years.
NHK is Nippon Hoosoo Kaisha (Japan's equivalent of the BBC).
I assume KBS is the Korean equivalent.

Sounds like KBS-produced Cha Ma Go Do (Cha Ma Gu Dao in Chinese), I saw it, too. There was one episode about Puerh alone (it was 4# or something)..it was kinda sensational when it first came out in Korea and heard it got the Emmy award later..Tead Off wrote:If I am not mistaken, this is part of the Korean/Japanese produced 'Asian Corridor in Heaven' 6 part series. Just don't know what NHK did with it, many Koreans understood as a pure Korean documentary..most of PDs and narrator (a famous actor) are Koreans
Re: Japanese Documentary On The Tea Horse Road
I'm sure there are different audio tracks. If you're watching it on TV in Japan you just press a button on your remote to choose the audio track you want. Subtitles, I don't know. The one linked in this thread has a Japanese narrator and it appears the Japanese subs were there first and that the Chinese was plopped onto the top of them.
Re: Japanese Documentary On The Tea Horse Road
I would strongly suggest that this be watched on an HD tv if possible. You can download this on most torrent sites. The production values are incredible. The narrator is Korean. The whole series is first rate.
Re: Japanese Documentary On The Tea Horse Road
Lots of conflicting info on the interwebpipes. It's Korean. No, it's a Japanese-Korean co-production. Or, this Chinese (or Chinese- Japanese?) production looks like the same thing and its release date is three years earlier than the others: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416634/
Anyway, Asian Corridor in Heaven is the torrent title you may want to search for.
