Drinking some gifted 2013 Kaihua Longding.
First time I have had this particular varietal. It visually is in the style of Zhu Ye King or maybe in a stretch, long jing, or other tiny fresh bud tea.
The salami smell made me think this was processed with pine needles. I guess that is another tea. It does seem pretty baked.
I brewed a moderate amount in a tiny gaiwan at +-180-190 for extended steeps. Adding a bit of boiling water cut the bitterness and enhanced the flavor.

Drinking some Gyokuro "Yame" from Lupicia. I am usually not a big fan of green tea. But since I had never heard of Gyokuro before joining TeaChat, I decided to give it a try. And I am pleasantly surprised!
Re: Official what GREEN are you currently drinking?
I had a lovely session with Tai Ping Hou Kui from Simon Levelt today. Normally this brick and mortar chain of tea and coffee stores sells stuff that is by far not on a par with anything discussed here but this year they had a couple of special (read: quality) teas temporarily in the assortment. And, wow, this one really beat up badly ANY shop bought green tea anywhere here in NL. Of course the brewing vessel might have helped a bit: a lovely hohin from Toju (swoon).

This evening, a few more infusions of the Tsuen Aoi Sencha from O-Cha, so tasty despite sitting overnight since first infusions.

Tsuen Aoi sencha from O-Cha in the Eiichi Rock hagi, brewed in my sencha kyusu from Petr Novak, on Mirka's tea tray. Sweet vegetal green happiness to start the day.

The tea sounds nice but the teaware is stunningly beautiful! What a great combo!!!

BTW, the kyusu and yunomi were both TeaChat special offers. I love to pair them because of the strong diagonals, light-glaze-on-darker-clay, yet also contrasting smooth/rough feeling of the two pieces.
Re: Official what GREEN are you currently drinking?
Thank you for posting this picture. I need to figure out what it is, but apparently all my Eiichi pieces are in a blind spot on my display. For some reason the last few times I have had Sencha I did not even think about using one of his pieces, and I wondered if somehow I forgot to unpack them. Rest assured they are there, but I will need to show them some love soon!debunix wrote:

Shuweet set-up, debunix! Hope to see the new Koshin soon!
Been testing a new Hojo-Magic kyusu with various sencha. I have to say I am quite pleased with this clay and sencha match-up.
Down to dribs and drabs of sencha ... time to replenish.
