I am new to Matcha and about to dive in, ordered the Chashaku & Chasen. But today while at a local Apple Festival I found this made by a local potter.

I think it will do well for my first Chawan, at least I hope.

Congratulations on your new chawan Shawn! Looks like it'll do greatly.
I can't quite tell how wide it is, but it looks just fine. Love the blue tones the way they mix in with the creamy and earthy tones.
I hope you'll share your first bowl of matcha with us!

Thank you Seeker, I will be sure to share as soon as my Matcha arrives.

**Late addition** I measured, it is 4.75" wide.

Earthy tones and nice indents for grip--practical and beautiful.

Is that a Ralph Nuara piece? It looks a bit like his style of work ...

Yay, I called it! I have one of his chawan too; not exactly the same as yours, but using the same color palette. They're lovely pieces--my only regret is that I don't drink matcha more often!

I have Matcha incoming so hope to break her in soon enough. Got a pic of your Ralph Nuara?

I had a revelation one day when i realized that my chawans were perfectly content to dispense other teas. They now see plenty of use, and I have not been struck by lightning yet. Just a thought.

Be careful, John, people might start asking where they can get this "gitcha," and whether "gitcha" will work in the tea ceremony instead of matcha. And then there will be the inevitable fisticuffs with the "giccha" crowd.
