Yunnan Sourcing - Pesticide testing on new productions!!

by Pyronicx » Nov 7th, '13, 10:04

Just noticed on the yunnan sourcing page that they will start pesticide testing in their own new productions for 26 of the most commonly used pesticides in China to be compliant with the EU food safety regulations.

I can really applaud that and wouldn't mind paying a little extra for tea, which has been tested for the most common pesticides!

Glad to see more people are doing this.

I honestly worry a bit about the potential hazards of contaminants in my tea.

I need to buy from YS more often. They seem to have their ducks in a row.

This is great news, every tea company should do this.

This is a very positive step, though as stated by the OP this will only apply to YS pu-erh brand productions. Still, YS is taking responsibility for their branded products. Kudos.

The pesticide list is quite scary especially 6 different derivatives of DDT.

We are fortunate to have a vendor like Yunnan Sourcing committed to it's clients. It is nice to have personal trust in this increasingly complex world.
Thank you, Scott.

When I drink a tea that bothers my stomach much the first thing I think of is 'were there pesticides in that tea'? I have never bought a tea like that from Yunnan Sourcing but have gotten a couple from Ebay like that. I do not know if the tea leaves are washed before being dried and processed into tea but I would hope so. I too am glad that Scott would test for pesticides. All tea makers should be required to do this, it would be a common sense law.
