Why not Keemun Black Tea?

I don't know why Keemun black tea can not be greatly apprecaited, and maybe many people even do not know it, But Keemun is really high fragrant with unique aroma.
The difference between Keemun and the other two famous black teas is the tea-tree variety and the speed of beverage color and fragrance's coming out.
So please pay a little more attention to Keemun black tea from China

since when is keemun unappreciated? isn't keemun usually the base of english breakfast teas as well as some russian carvan blends? it has a great chocolatey taste. keemun also makes my favorite iced tea!

Actually, I've always been told that Assam is the base of the British breakfast tea blends, and I think Lapsang Souchong is the main ingredient of Russian Caravan. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty certain.

I love keemuns. I've discovered I acutally like the Concerto (mao feng) better than the Encore (Hao Ya A). Other than grade, is there a difference between the two?

Hi,
There are many difference between Huangshan Mao Feng and Keemun Black Tea. Maofeng is a green tea, produced in Huang Shan County, China; Keemun Black Tea is a Black Tea, produced in Keemun County, China.
They have quiet difference in flavour. color, fragrance, and working process.
I love both of them :D

Thanks for the post.

In tea language, "Mao Feng" is really just a grade.

It also means, as I'm sure you know, "High Peak" (as on a mountain), thus it is often associated with Huang Shan (a mountain in the Anhui province) and the tea that is grown there (primarily green).

The classification "High Peak," like many Chinese grades, is more of an artsy title than a quantifiable categorization. Therefore, it is more general than one specific tea. For example, Adagio's got a Keemun that is called Mao Feng (which is what I believe Marlene was referring to).

So in a way, as the "CherryKing" you could also be tagged "Cherry Mao Feng."

Keemu Maofeng and Keemun Haoya, both of them are black tea, fully fermented. Compare with the Keemun maofeng, beside withering--twisting--fermentation--baking, Keemun Haoya needs the refining process, which is ver complicated, such as cutting--reciprocating sifting--stalk extraction--compliment of firing etc... That's why we call it Keemun Congou Black Tea.
For Keemun Maofeng, which is also my precious. Especially the handpicked tea leaves before Grain Rain. :) 8)

Personal speaking, I prefer Keemun to Assam Black Tea.

I got a cup of Assam Black Tea last week, ( I got a big bag Assam Black Tea from International Tea Convention). Oh, the aroma is too thick to acceptable. Assam Black has a very very thick, amora, Keemun has a smooth, full flavor, like a flavor of chocolate. When I drank Keemun, I said it is my ideal black tea.

But, sometime I want to drink Assam Black Tea with iced milk. :wink:

What I do with my Keeman tea is add a little milk and rock sugar.
Its the only tea I like to do this with.

Yes, Keeman holds up well to milk and sugar or even honey. But I'm still a tea pureist, I go leaded all the way. :)

:arrow: Please note that you cannot possibly make any meaningful judgement about whether you like Assam tea based on any Assam tea from the 2005 or 2006 harvests. While I am not a certified expert or a professional tea drinker, I have been an avid Assam drinker for over seven years and the tea from those two harvests are undeniably distinctly and vastly inferior to all the prior harvests I have known. The 2005 fall harvest was especially disappointing, with the 2006's being noticebly better, but still very inferior ( and many vendors are still stuck with large stockpiles of surplus 2005 - caveat emptor ! ) :wink:

( I have found a few Keemuns that taste almost as good to me as a good Assam, but I just can't drink as much China black.)
