Beautiful! thanks for sharing. What I see that might show that you are new to this work, are cuts to your fingers. I cannot advise as a potter. As a consumer, I advise you to make some kyusu for left-handed use.

Happy New Year to everyone !!! :D

I'm very excited as i have recently sent a Tea bowl to Japan ! I never thought that would happen so it took me totally by surprise ! :o

I was also sent some really nice pictures from one of my customers who bought two bowls from me last year.

What I'm loving about that teapot is the gorgeous crackly outer surface (outside surfaces on the bowls, too)- can you tell us about the process on that a little? I'm trying to learn more about all of that. Terrific blues.

Hi kikula

Thanks, i do like the crackle effect myself. I think it can really add character and give an aged / antique feel to a piece.

The process of creating a crackle is quite simply really. The crackle will form when the glaze shrinks slightly more than the clay body during cooling.
You can purchase ready mixed glazes that are designed to crackle or as i have done through a process of trial and error, find which glazes will craze on which clay bodies and keep records of the results so that the effect can be repeated.

Thanks, i find blue is quite a popular colour.

Cheers
Vic :)
