the_economist: Teapot sale!

by the_economist » Jan 13th, '14, 00:35

Hi, when I first started out on TC I never thought I'd reach the point where I have too much teaware but I now have to thin the collection in light of an impending move. I have tried to avoid tea stains in my use. I hope to find good homes for these pots!

60ml xishi. I used it for gaoshan oolongs only. Passes all the lid tests and pour tests with flying colours. Flat filters. $70.

The $15 teapot looks like a 1980s "factory teapot" from the pictures. If so, great deal!

Hey Econ, for those hei in pots, from whom did you buy them and why are you letting them go? Also, how does each pot perform in terms of altering flavour, mouthfeel, and aroma? Feel free to pm me your response. Thank you! :D

These are from Singapore. I bought 4 of them, can't use all 4, and due to my coming move I'm letting them go. Rest assured the other pair will be put to good use (I have a slight preference for the aesthetic proportion of the other pair)!

They do wonders for smoothing out rough edges of tea and deepening flavor. Aroma becomes more intense although maybe some high notes get lost. I don't brew many teas with high aromas in there so I can't say for sure, but I've brewed a green 'aged' baozhong, a youngun only 10 years old, that actually had some high notes and those aspects of the aroma were a little muted but the fruitier aspects were enhanced. I probably wouldn't pair them with a nuclear green tgy/gaoshan.

Oh, pm'ed you as well.

Updated the heini shuiping listing with an older but more accurate picture of their colour. Red, I realize, is not a very good background for taking pictures!
