TGIF 2/01/08 How many steeps for your FAV tea?

Let's start off February with a great TeaDay!!! And the added bonus, it is Friday, seems like a really great day for tea.

Share your tea with everyone. What is in your cup today. It is exciting to see what everyone is drinking on a daily basis. One reason is because none of us can possibly drink every tea we want to. So it is exciting to see someone enjoying something we want to try...or maybe tried and loved a while ago.

Remember to stop back often and feel free to give us an update.

Today's poll question and TeaDay topic is how many times do you steep your leaves? This was a rather heated discussion on another forum lately, so, let's see if it is lively here too. Feel free to comment as you share your tea with us. I know I will definately be drinking my favorite tea today...I will talk about it then.

See what a lack of sleep will do?
My brew: A nice Amber Oolong to start my day here at home.
Maybe something stronger when I get to work to keep me awake through a day-long bored meeting. And no, that's not a typo.

At least you aren't snowed in! Maybe everybody is out shoveling. . . We had ice all night long.

I have started daily sencha, from O-cha, here at home. Once I get to work I am starting on a bonus Adagio Sencha I found cleaning out the closet at work! It's been sitting on a shelf, in a tin, for 1 year and still tastes great.

Making some low fired DaHongPao. Nice buttery and nutty aroma with only slight smoky flavor on the first washing. Smooth as butter. Sweet but still with a substantial "yen yun". Delicious.

Umm well no, but - been there, done that - being born and raised in Ohio so I can sympathize.

Now that I am at work, I have decided a much stronger brew is definitely in order.
I have switched to a breakfast blend of Assam, Ceylon with a touch of Darjeeling.

Not that I want to be awake during my meeting, but they will notice if I fall off my chair.

First: Rosamonte especial seleccion.

Second: '01 yiwu menghai from Houde. The dry leaves smell incredible, but the brewed tea is a bit disappointing. My brewing is probably to blame, but the flavors came out muddled in a strong woodiness. No body, and very little aftertaste.

Now: Second infusion of guricha. Very very vegetal, but also very sweet.

I started the day with my usual Golden Melon Pu-erh. Then my wife wanted some of her favorite White Peony with lychee and rose buds. Looks beautiful in those Bodum Pavina cups! Probably finish off with some Ti Kuan Yin later today.

so yeah im sooo starting the day with some earl grey de la creme, it s like earl grey but with a hint of vanilla and cream. oh and it has blue mallow blossoms, yeah its pretty rad

I am still working on this multiple steeping thing, so I get as far as two and then get distracted only to come back to soggy leaves that have sat for a few hours. Or I am going off of the Rooibos as of late and have learned that more than one steep lacks the good flavors. This morning was a sencha though now I am onto the Vanilla Rooibos since I don't really need the caffeine.

Decided to start my day with Valentines tea. I use so little black tea, that I think a second steep is too thin for me.

I suspect that the folks who do multiple steeps are the greenies who make a cup at a time. I make 20 oz at a time, so technically, I get 2 1/2 cups in per steep.

We got snow yesterday. Will have to plow the drive this afternoon.

Almost the last of my HouDe DaYuLing. I brew the heck out of this tea, probably get 6-7 infusions or more before it starts to loose that specialness.

I like hearing what everyone is drinking.
