Tuesday TeaDay Flavors, anyone? 3/18/2014

by Chip » Mar 18th, '14, 10:37

Welcome to TeaDay. It has been quite a while since we have discussed 'flavors and tea'. Please stop by and share what is in your cup throughout the day. Tell us please what your palette prefers in flavors and tea..

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic is regarding flavors in tea. This is a rather controversial subject I have found. So, of course express your opinion/sentiment, but please be sensitive to the opinions of others.

I am looking forward to seeing you on TeaDay. And ... learning who are possibly Closet Flavored TeaImbibers!

I personally enjoy flavored tea. Its not what I drink all day but some days it could be; especially in the summer. Its nice to enjoy a nicely chilled pineapple or peach Oolong on a warm day. 8)

Like everything else.....sometimes I enjoy flavors in my tea, but only once in a while, and less often commercially flavored teas, because they're usually too strong on the 'flavor' and too weak on the 'tea'.

When I want strong not-tea flavors I go for the herbal tisane cabinet and mix something up.

I like some flavored tea, but I can't say I drink it all the time. I'd say winter would be the main time I do, because I am somewhat addicted to chestnut or hazelnut flavors, and think they play best during the colder months. A subtle peach flavor in an iced tea goes well when it's hot out, too.

Like most of the other people that have voiced their opinions so far, I enjoy flavored teas sometimes as well. I do drink flavors less often than unflavored tea though so I went ahead and put in 'other.' I especially enjoy some flavored teas iced as they can be quite refreshing.

When it comes to oolong, and green (Chinese or Japanese) tea, I haven't enjoyed a flavored tea in quite a while. I don't anticipate ever seeking out flavored versions of these teas again. (I don't drink white tea regularly enough to really know, and please tell me there is no such thing as flavored pu erh...)

BUT. When it comes to black tea? I love adagio's fandom blends. They are definitely a "guilty pleasure" for me, and I have a western brewed cup just about every morning. For example, this morning I am enjoying the last of a spicy, chocolatey brew inspired by Cinna from the Hunger Games.

I voted "No, I have tried it, but don't like flavors in my tea".
There are so incredible and amazing teas around the world, that seems to me just a waste of time (and money).

Have a nice day my (tea) friends.

I enjoy some flavored teas. I have them a little less often than straight teas, and thus voted other. I consider them one of my guilty tea pleasures.

I still enjoy flavoured teas sometimes, but it's not what I typically drink, so I voted other :)

I like flavoured tea sometimes.

Mostly black, but my tea journey began with a delightful raspberry white tea in teabag form.... Was fantastic XD

I absolutely love a good Chai but I'm not sure with allergies whether I should indulge in Chai anymore, so I've avoided it for a while now. I'll have to ask my allergist when I see him in a week. But other flavored teas I generally am not a fan of. I did have a sample of tea that was a Honey Pear black tea and it was delicious! But that was a long time ago and haven't ordered it since. But I may order some this year just to have a break from straight single estate teas.

The only exceptions to my 'no' are the occasional jasmine white tea or sakura sencha when family is visiting.

I like flavored teas, but I love teas without as well. I think it really comes down to mood, time of the year, if I'm eating something with it, etc. Some days are just a day for flavorings or tisanes.
