I remember last night, there was a thread regarding Taobao Puerh..now it's gone. Or am I delusional?
Thanks.
Re: Looks like one thread has gone?
Yeah, it's gone. Inquiring minds would like to know why. I'm sure a mod will come on and explain.
Re: Looks like one thread has gone?
Vendor commenting rules. It may come back after some or no scrubbing.

Yeah, I sense that. But back then, partial replies had been removed or the threads would be locked....not the way the whole thread disappeared like a wind.shah82 wrote:Vendor commenting rules. It may come back after some or no scrubbing.

Funny, I thought it was very much within the rules unless I missed a post.

Yes, the topic was moved for review due to forum rules violations. It is being reviewed and will return hopefully this weekend.
Oddly, I left a "shadow topic" under the pu-erh forum stating, "Taobao Tea. TOPIC MOVED FOR REVIEW" so members would see, but it is seemingly not visible except to me. The shadow should be visible to all readers, not sure what is up with that. phpbb glitch I guess.

... oh and BTW, the vendor was immediately and courteously contacted by yours truly regarding the infraction(s) and linked to the forum rules.
To the vendor's credit, I received a very quick and equally courteous response.
In such cases ... depending on the infractions and upon a vendor's response, future mod/admin action is weighed. In this case, aside from editing the topic, there will likely be no further actions taken.

Ya, I was pleasantly surprised with the way he handled the controversy over his tea. No defensive arguing or getting upset, simply stating what he believes about his teas. If only all vendors could do thatTead Off wrote:He seems quite okay, Chip. I welcome his input here.

Re: Looks like one thread has gone?
Thank you for your posts on the matter.
Please keep in mind, I do not first go on ... appearances. Since this was a new member's first post(s), my actions becomes black and white. Either the topic or posts are removed from the general forum for review. This helps me as I do not like to hastily judge. In this way I can take my time and work with the vendor.
However, due to numerous past incidents there is a virtual zero tolerance policy which is clearly stated in the rules. There have been many similar incidents where the new member's first post(s) seemed innocuous and the new member seemed genuine. Then maybe I find out about a PM campaign, etc.
There is a set procedure in the rules on how a member ... and especially a new member ... can respond to discussion on the forum regarding their shop, online or otherwise. This is to protect the freedom of speech TCers enjoy. This also prevents a vendor from coming on the forum and igniting a flame war.
The policies also prevent TeaChat from becoming a haven for spammers and the like.
This is not to say that the forum is blind to the concerns of vendors, au contraire, my dear friends. I have also protected the rights of vendors who I feel have been unfairly attacked. Members have been sent packing.
So, please be patient and do not assume that I have cast judgement upon this new member/vendor. We are discussing the situation and working to a solution. I like to say, "let us see how we can do" versus simply touting forum rules.
Thus I simply say, "the topic has been moved for review."

Thanks for all yours' nice words here. This is the best tea forum I've ever seen, and rules/efforts that make this place nicer worth all my respect. I believe there will be a lot of things about puer we can happily communicate with each other.
Best
