Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)

Still in Japan but not had a lot of time to look for anything tea related. I may pick up a few packs of sencha from the supermarket before I leave though. Instead I took an opportunity to order one of the two remaining hagi yaki sansai chawan from Artistic Nippon.
Looking forward to that when I get home!

Pighog,

I can tell you that even supermarket sencha in Japan is better than half the stuff you find here in "gormet" tea shops.

Where are you now?

The local supermarket in Matsubushi-machi. Before we leave I think I'll pick up two or three packets of something that's around my usual price range. Only trouble is that I'm not so hot on reading kanji, so it's partial guesswork as to what I'm buying.

Seeker good to see you around. It was hard to get a really even particle size so making a good froth was more challenging. The tencha was koicha grade so the end result was quite good. One of my fellow classmates actually bought a mill while we were there so I am expecting to try and perfect my grinding technique. Maybe I'll even be able to provide a few lucky tea chatters with some very freshly hand ground matcha.

That would be pretty cool, I'd definitely part with some cash for some home-made matcha!

Wow B, I bow in respect and homage to your dance with tea. I very much appreciate the knowledge and sensitivities you bring to an uber-novice such as myself. If the fates allow, I'd be very interested in a session with freshly ground matcha.
May you be well.

Here's a new chawan.
Artist/creator Robert Fornell.

Seeker where did you find that chawan? I've wanted a fornell for a long time but don't know where to get one.

He used to be in the artists section here, as Robert Fornell under the moniker Ronin Ceramurai (the moniker accompanies his icon only; he's listed in artisans under Robert Fornell Ceramics). But I don't think he participates here any more.
I contact him directly via email from time to time and inquire what he has available.
I can contact him and inquire about forwarding his email info if you'd like?

I received my Yamane Seigan ippukuwan the other day. Really, it's for sencha but it's big enough that I can use it as a small matcha bowl and it works great! Unfortunately I can't seem to upload any pictures of it...
