2009 Mahei. 5 year tasting. The leaves have darkened a bit. Liquor getting to that mid-amber stage. Full flavored umami in the mouth, with sweet tobacco aroma. The fermented taste lays right on the tongue giving a buzz in the mouth and lips. Thickish mouth-feel. Energizing. Very decent and coming along nicely.

6FTM 2006 commemorative cake from TeaClassico. Just received this and some other goodies this afternoon. A pretty decent Yiwu in my book, especially considering the price. I'm 5 infusions in and it's developing a nice thickness. Fairly strong huigan felt deep in the throat. Good, balanced kuwei. Feeling a pleasant puer buzz

I've been enjoying your White Whale all day. Is this Mengsong another little gem I can look forward to enjoying soon? The leaf looks lovely.TwoDog2 wrote:A soft little 50g mini-cake from Mengsong

Great, glad you are enjoying it! The Mengsong is a very different tea. It is soft, young, and light. Very different character. Tough to compare the two. The cakes are certainly beautiful though!

In the quiet predawn hours, moist air slipping in through the window, I sit to pour really rich rounds of 7-8 year old Gu Mu Lan/古木蘭 (6 grams/120ml Petr kyusu) purchased from an eccentric tea master in Taiwan this past spring. I really enjoy this tea, incredibly balanced with clean huigan and subtle but whole body qi heightened by some accompanying seated qi gong practice.
Blessings!

2012 Ruiyuan Nannuo. Two sessions with the tea today, which is a major compliment to the tea.
This time, I use even less leaves, and only start wincing after the fifth infusion. Tastes like candied grapes.
Tenet 3'd!

So, I called the maker of this cake about whether he has anymore of this tea or not. The answer was "Barely any at all."
"Well, what are you selling it for now?"
"600 RMB (~100 USD) per cake."
"Oh. Just asking."
Tenet 3 indeed.

Just now finishing up a session with the 2000 zhen cang pin yellow mark from tea classico. 6 grams in a 90ml med fired zhuni shuiping. Immediately following the first sip of the first infusion I started to giggle and grin uncontrollably... I like it when that happens

Enjoying a bit of the infamous White Whale at work today. I may well regret only ordering three bricks.....

Lao Ban Zhang 2014 (from teadezhang) with friends.
Super duper deep huigan, and very smooth, good looking leaves as expected.

2007 yang pin hao limited edition. Free sample I received with a recent teapot purchase from sample tea. It's enjoyable, nothing to stand out, but enjoyable.
Re: Official Pu of the day
2011 Legend Of Puerh DXS (Da Xue Shan). 3 year tasting. Dry leaf aroma beginning to change and deepen. Still young and light. A honey sweetness still lingers with a deepening of umami developing from the fermentation. Needs a lot more time to age. It's tempting to drink now with many brews and balanced energy, but I'll put this away for next year and taste again.
