Oooh...fencer and I both had that tea, tenuki. It is YUMMY. Spot on honey goodness.

I've just put the kettle on for my first tea of the day: genmaicha. It's a bit late for me to be having tea...but the craving couldn't be denied any longer.

Give me even one reason to deny a tea craving ever and I'll eat these leaves. What is wrong with you girl!?!

I started today with some Scottish Breakfast Blend from Upton-- serious tea for a seriously tired tea drinker. Unfortunately, I decided to experiment by using more leaf. I won't make that mistake again anytime soon! Oh well, chalk it up to experience, I guess.

In the afternoon, I had my first taste of Kukicha. It was strange, but a good strange, I think. I'll probably have some more tomorrow. I'll sure be glad when my utiliTEA arrives, though; isn't there a saying about how a watched thermometer never cools, or something?

I have wicked bad insomnia, and learned that caffeine is one of its bigger triggers. I've come a long way in sleeping normally since killing coffee...but tea after 6pm usually means I won't sleep 'til 4 am.

The genmaicha is so worth the sleeping pills. :)

Ok, I'll eat one leaf. Just dump the first brewing for oolongs and there goes the caffeine, voila, tasty decaff.

Not really...there's a paper or two out there that gives 15 minutes of soaking as the amount of time before the caffeine's left the leaf. But yeah, subsequent steepings seem to have less effect. Sometimes I'll give a family member the first cup and just have fun with the rest.

Here's a reference for both of our comments. :) At least half the cafeine leaves the tea the first brewing, which, you are right, isn't technically 'decaf'. But it is decaf enough for my late night tea drinking. :)

Started the day with Irish Breakfast. Then my good ol' Constant Comment iced while running errands.

LOVE my IngenuiTeas, use them several times a day, take 1 with me when travelling, and have given away at least 3 Ingenuitea Gift Sets. I have 2 at home (1 of each size) and another at work. One had to be replaced a couple weeks ago. It was the original design and despite all my efforts, it continued to leak tea all over the tea tray on top of my cabinet. It's horrible to see that lovely liquid wasted and making such a mess. But sadder still was to see the poor lonely IngenuiTea just lying there in the trash can.

But the new one works great! Yeah!

I have 3 very full shelves of traditional ceramic teapots, which I use and enjoy. But my prettiest pot is a Somayaki Kyusu and cups sent by a dear friend in Japan over 25 years ago.

I decided to try the Valentines tea again today after spending the afternoon with the green anji and a sencha. With a splash of vanilla soy milk, I've found it makes a good desert tea when I want something sweet. It is not something I would normally enjoy, but it works every so often. All I know is that if I didn't get the sample with my Adagio order, I definitely would not have tried it. For now, it will keep me amused until I switch to some sort of Rooibos later on tonight.

I'll not bore you with my thoughts on the tea, just go read the reviews, they nail it. I started at 2 minutes and 208, I'm gonna push this tea a bit harder I think next time. yum.

Today is a GreatTeaDay™ Yeah!

I'll have to agree with that! I'm glad I like it now, I have two samples of it.

I'm the lone electronic device vote. I adore my TriniTEA. But second is the IgenuiTEA, brilliant device.

I started off with some Golden Monkey, and have moved on to a summer Darjeeling.
