Dear Teachatters,
I am using this platform a few years already but most of the time just in stealth-mode. So now it's time to introduce myself.
I'm a tea and teaware addict from Germany for almost 4 years now focusing mostly on sheng puerh, roasted oolongs and yixing pots. My interest in tea but also Asian culture and related stuff started to grow during two years I spend in Singapore. Last year I visited Wuyishan and West Lake to get so personal impression of tea growing regions in China. Looking forward to learn, discuss and share with other tea addicts here
Best regards from Germany
Rosh

Re: Hello from Germany
Welcome. So I realize you aren't focused on black/red Tea, but I am on a luckless quest for top grade Assam and I hear it's popular in Germany.
Sorry to beat a dead horse fellow teachatters, but Rosh, do you know any online vendors in Germany that sell very high-end Meleng or Mangalam Assam?

thanks to all for the warm welcome!
I only know that teegasse.de sells some Assam, but I'm not the one to judge their quality.joelbct wrote: Welcome. So I realize you aren't focused on black/red Tea, but I am on a luckless quest for top grade Assam and I hear it's popular in Germany.

Thirst, are you also active in the german tea forum? We also have some cywn fanboys over there
Re: Hello from Germany
Popular does not mean it is good, many Germans do prefer a bargain over a quality deal. “Aldi-mentality” (German low-cost supermarket chain) prevails.joelbct wrote: Welcome. I have never had any good tea coming from a shop in Germany yet. Assams are usually run of the mill kind of mass production. Teashops smell like cinnamon, flowers and other weird scents which ruin any good tea that lurk in the shadows.

Not currently…I’m only half German, didn’t grow up here, and still mostly consume English-language media. Guess I should check out the German forumRosh wrote:Thirst, are you also active in the german tea forum? We also have some cywn fanboys over there
Re: Hello from Germany
Thank you, Rosh and Bok. I just ordered some 2017 FF Puttabong and this 2016 tippy Assam, which was recently uploaded to Jay Shree retail site, we'll see. The shipping is a bit steep. Fingers crossed for the quality, but I'm not holding my breath either. https://www.jayshreetea.com/assam-speci ... -black-tea
Anyway, always nice to hear from fellow tea enthusiasts around the globe. Cheers!
