I don't drink tea out because I can't stand lipton. I always steal a couple swig's of my husband's diet cola, but too much of those chemical sweeteners give me a headache, so I'm stuck with the clear stuff.

The tea in my pot this morning? Haven't decided yet. I might give my darjeeling sample a try, otherwise it'll be oolong.

I have to say though, tonight I went out late and tried the chinese restaurant next to the ranch 99 near my house and they had a very good oolong tea, clean, strong tea presence, lingering aftertaste and a good solid viscosity without excessive sweetness. I asked the waiter what kind of oolong it was, and he kept explaining to me that it was oolong, that it was sort of between green and black. oolong. I finally gave up. So apparently at _that_ particular restaurant I will be drinking uh, 'oolong' instead of water.

Almost nice to have that lvl of simplicity, I merely know I like it and that it is oolong.

Water, preferably San Pellegrino. Never knew water could actually taste great before I tried it.

Pana (spring water by Pellegrino) if they have it. Seems to make a hell of a cup of tea as well.

Down South you are offered only 2 things. "Coke" which is called Coke regardless if it's a Pepsi or Iced Tea, more commonly known as Sweet Tea.

100% of the time, I order water, even if I plan on drinking something else.

Once in a while, I'll have a glass of wine if I'm somewhere nice. Every once in a blue moon, I'll order a diet coke with pizza since it just goes better than water. Since I've become a tea drinker, I look for tea on the menu. I won't have tea with my meal, but I will have it with dessert if it is available.

My preference with tea has really been to not drink it with food. I like to just enjoy the taste of the tea without the taste of food interferring. I will, however, eat these wonderful light and crispy Asian plain rice crackers I found recently, if I feel like having something to munch on while drinking tea.

This morning, I am drinking adagio's casablanca twist for a well needed wake up beverage. I love mint. It is both refreshing and invigorating.

Not to get off subject here...but my dad tells me that since he moved to the south, he always has to ask for a straw when he orders iced tea, but when he lived up north, he always got a straw. What's that all about?

When we dine out, we usually have wine with dinner. G. likes a cup of coffee after dinner, and I order a decaf to keep him company.

Edited to add:

Sencha in my cup this morning. Not very good. I think I used too much tea.

Well, I grew up with carbonated spring mineral water which was very pure, but when first I tasted SP it was a different experience altogether. There's something about it that makes it stand out among all the different brands of water I've tried. I think it's a combination of bubble size, mineral content and composition that just makes it seem so incredibly pure and soft. My only problem with it is that it's comparatively expensive and not always easy to come by.

At a restaurant, I most often order just water. If it is morning I have my own tea with me, and ask for hot water, the rest of the time, I usually don't bother.

This morning's brew is Harney's Goldan Mudan. Thanks Salsero, this one is interesting. It is a nice mornig blend, it has a bit of a bite, yet an underlying honey taste.
