Tuezzzday, TeaDay, 3/25/08
I have had 4 teas comfortably 2 days in a row. I do not take this lightly because I have struggled to have 2-3 teas a day for weeks. I am hoping for 3 in a row.
Welcome to TeaDay, please stop by TeaDay all day and share what is in your cup. If you must, stop in later in the day and reflect back on your TeaDay. But we truly want to know what teas you are enjoying today.
While you are here, see what fellow TeaChatters are sipping as well, this is half the fun after all.
Today's TeaPoll question and discussion topic is...White Tea! So, share with everyone your experience with White Teas...and definitely share what is your fav White Tea...if you have one.
We are looking forward to reading your responses on TeaDay! May you fill your cup many times today.

I've tried two different samples. One was a box of teabags from Salada that was White Tea flavored with plum and the other was White Peony from The English Tea Store on-line. They were totally different, making different colored infusions and having very different tastes.
I picked up 4 oz. of the Peony and it goes pretty well with our ritual of Chinese take-out on Sundays...

White tea is my favorite. Sipping some Silver Needle from Adagio right now.
Oh, the subtlety, the luxury, the deliciousness...

When buying samples I tend to forget I haven't tried white tea yet. It just doesn't sound all that exciting to me, maybe because they say the flavors are a bit more subtle.
This morning I've decided jasmine tea would be a tasty random choice.

I like white tea. I have to order some in a few weeks because I finished all my 2007 packages.
This morning Yunnan golden tips and houjicha now with my lunch.

I like White Teas and have them occasionally. One of my favorites is a White Peony from Ambrosia Teas. Very nice.

I enjoy white tea and use to drink a lot of it. The whole "things from China may not be safe" has caused me to give it up.

Love white tea and drink them regularly.
JM - Have you tried Darjeeling white teas?
Hope you succeed with your 'mission,' Chip!

I like white tea and I drink it occassionally. I would like to try other varieties. However, JM brings up a good point about things from China... Are white teas ever from Japan?
This morning I have Jasmine #12 in my cup.

CynTEAa, looks like adagio is out of darjeeling white until July. Are there any other vendors you would suggest for a sample?

Have only tried bagged whites so far (tea newbie, you know) but liked them. I look forward to getting some white tea samples next month.
This morning was 5 O'clock tea. Eh. Except for the tea yesterday morning, I can take or leave black teas so far. But I'm looking forward to getting home to my oolong. Not sure what it'll be... I've been wanting some Ti Kuan Yin Monkey Picked so might do that.

I've had adagio's silver needle but thats about as far as my white tea has progressed. Its nice, but I dunno if it will be something in my cup on a regular basis.
2006 Li-Shan Oolong for this one. Moving on to some TGY later.

It is starting to look like Mission Impossible for today.
I truly find a good white tea to be a most enjoyable tea. I do not however roll out of bed thinking, oh good, time for white tea. A fine Yin Zhen is sooo sublime though. I usually brew it in a glass so I can enjoy the leaf. I find Bai Mudan or White Peony can pack a pretty good punch compared to Yin Zhen. They are both very good but very different.
It seems the biggest mistake people make with white tea is...they use way too little leaf. White tea leaf is very fluffy, almost like feathers. In order to get 3-5 grams of leaf needed to make a good cup, you have to use sometimes more than 2 tablespoons.
I am having my breakthrough Japanese tea, Fukamushi Superior. This sencha put me into the Japanese tea fast lane around 2 years ago. I never had a sencha like this previously...packed full of flavor and intensity. Ever since opening the first bag of this stuff, sencha has dominated my previously predominantly Chinese tea diet.
