BYOT! Enter TeaChat here, you never know what you may find!

I have just received a report from the USDA from a tea importer friend of mine. All tea imports from China are to be placed in quarantine for at least 6 months. Will this cause you to switch to Japanese teas?

I already drink almost exclusively Japanese green tea

Once again, in case you missed my thanx from yesterday, thank you all for the birthday wishes...it was a TEArific TeaDay.

Welcome one and all to TeaDay. So, grab a cup of tea, share it with all of cyber space right here...we all want to hear what is in your cup today...all day (or whenever you can share with us). Make sure you also see what is in everyone else's cup as well.

So, the drama unfolds regarding Chinese tea import bans effective TODAY. All imported tea will be quarantined for a minimum of 6 months due to contamination fears. This is very alarming news since many of us drink a lot of Chinese teas. So, what do you do if or when tea supplies dry up here in the USA? Please share what would you do if your favorite teas suddenly become unavalable?

WOW, April is finally here, I see fools everywhere.

Have a great TeaDay...see you here.

A quarantine, why? Should I be worried about any tea of Chinese origin I currently possess?

Of the tea I do get from china (jasmine), I think I have enough.

Since I mentioned it, jasmine I shall drink today.

If this is indeed the case, I will hoard. Not much white tea coming from Japan.
But it seems too unlikely to be true.

As far as tea goes, Chinese goverment firmly asserts sanitization in production. I doubt if this is necessary. If it considered agrichemicals, neither chinese or japanese teas on safe ground. So buying top-notch teas would be best choice. Otherwise, tea tree which is very vulnerable to bugs, tea farmers wouldn't be able to grow in mass production if not using agrichemicals.

Awww CynTEAa, give up the oolongs with me. We are just swimming upstream.

Looking into my cup, I see sencha Tokusen...TGIGreen TeaDay for me.

I love greens in case you did not already know that. I drink them almost all the time. I love the freshness of the aroma and the flavor. Sometimes I like their intensity...other times I like their subtlety. Some, I like their green leaf, others I like their artistic leaf.

I do not know if this is a phase I am going through, or a lifetime thing.
So pass the grass clippings and let's party! (PAR-TEA!).

Have a lovely day all and be careful of elaborate pranks!

I think this must be an April Fool's joke. I drink Indian teas almost exclusively so this won't bother me at all. :P
