Table salt for cleaning tea stains off glass pots?
I have been told that table salt in hot water should clean a teapot for tea stains just as well as vinegar, baking soda or lime. Can this be true?[/u]

I have not heard of this before...which leads me to believe it may not work. But vinegar works so well, why try anything else?
By the way, welcome to TeaChat...I hope you have many cups of tea with us.
I hear TeaDay is a great place in the forum to share what is in your cup and to get to know us better. Although this is based in USA, there are a bunch of Euros hanging here, too. Always room for one more.

I've not heard of table salt being a good cleanser for ceramics before either. My grandmother swears by mounding table salt onto a porcelain stain, then squeezing lemon juice over it and letting it sit overnight.
I know that the salt does nothing with that cure. It just helps to hold the acidic lemon juice in place. You can really only use that with flat surfaces, too. But hey, if you try it and it works, more power to ya!
