These infusers are what brought me to tea .I bought my first one 6 months ago, my second around 4 months ago. They have been wonderful!! Suddenly , no matter how clean they are they leak and
Ihave found the filter floating to the top, no matter how secure it felt to go in! I don't put them in the dishwasher. Any ideas? Or is this how long the filters last? Thanks, jim
Well you are asking several things.
I had one leak and 2 others that never have, Adagio has a video on how to completly take them apart to clean them. You should probably try that first. They say it stops the leaks. Unfortunately I found this video too late.

How long the filters last, before what? You can buy replacement filters, but I'm not sure why you need to.
As for floating - you need to rough up the outside edge of the filter. At least that is what I do. Funny I just posted on this recently. If you scuff up that edge pretty good all the way around it fits snug again.
Are you putting it in the microwave? That might be part of the problem.

The filter on my IngenuiTEA has always fitted loose, but I find it popping to the top more often after it has heavy use, usually while I'm pouring.
It seems that after a while the fine mesh of the filter gets clogged and basically traps air underneath it. The air pushes up and pops the filter. My solution is to go over the filter gently with some baking soda and a bottle brush. This makes my filter nice and clean and keeps it down. I still have a plastic spoon I use to keep the filter down during the initial pour.

I have had mine for a year and a half or so, always use it in the microwave, and have never had it leak. But I do take it apart every few months and clean it, so maybe that's why? The floating filter thing makes me insane! My first one floated after a few months of heavy use. The second one did the same. I'm going to try Victoria's technique and now I'll also try motokochan's. I will say that replacing the old one worked the first time, so maybe there's something to the cleaning it. Anyway, mine always floats on filling it initially. Who knows? I think it can be a little quirky, but overall is a wonderful device! I have given lots of them as gifts.
I used to have the same problem with the filter popping up during brewing. I figured that due to the hot water I had warped the plastic or some such. I tried holding the filter in place with a spoon and then poured a little hot water on it in hopes that the heat would cause the filter to conform better due to miniscule expansion (Darn it Jim I'm a tea nerd, not a scientist). I haven't had any problems since.

Between the two of you I have come up with a solution!! I will pour the hot water on the leaves, let the filter float to the top. When the brew time is done, I will turn it upside down letting the filter float "up to the bottom" and securely lock in place.
