Current year's matcha?

Does anyone know, do vendors typically announce when they are stocked with matcha from the current harvest?

I have never seen it announced. :? I'd ask whichever vendor you're thinking of ordering from and see what their response is.

Here is the response from that board:

"Matcha is produced year round. In our case, it's made (ground) right around the time we order it so it's very fresh. The tencha leaves used to make matcha are available to the producers through out the year"

Well that actually does make sense though. Although it doesn't say what harvest their Tencha comes from. But much like sencha they could keep the tencha in cold storage until they are ready for it, and from what I have heard about the length of time to grind matcha they probably have to keep grinding throughout the year.

well - I know itoen - gets their matcha flown in every month. According to their staff the tencha is ground and at the same time is on the plane to US. They get their shipment every month and they recommend that the tea should be used within 3 months. You can call and they will give you the exact date of arrival.

Lol, something tells me that flying the grinder on the plane back and forth would be the epitome of inefficiency :P I would hate for them to open a window and suddenly be in a green cloud of tea.
