Puerh to the rescue

by hop_goblin » Apr 23rd, '08, 12:42

Ok, as some of you know, I have been fighting a serious infection. To make a long story short, this is what happened. A heavy dish fell on my barefoot and subsequently gave me cellulitis - a stubborn muscular infection that can be life threatining. To make a longer story ever shorter, let's just say that I didn't seek medical attention until 4 days after it happened as I thought that it was just severely bruised. However, after 4 sleepless nights, a temp, and severe pain, I capitulated and went in to the emergency room. He took one look at my foot and knew exactly what it was. He was amazed at the fact that the infection only took over 3/4 of my foot as the 5 days that it took me to go to the emergency room should of took over my leg and/or organs. The Dr. states that these types infections are "galloping" in that they become systemic only after a couple of days and can affect the rest of my body in a matter of hours. But for some reason, something had kept my infection at bay during the 4 days prior to medical attention. I just had my 10 day check up. The Dr. was amazed at the amount of healing in my foot as most people who have these infections generally need weeks of aggressive antibotic schedule. However, the Dr. is amazed at the amount of recovery I have had in 10 days and only recommended that I clean the wound and keep it covered with an a ointment.

As many of you know, I am an avid Puerh drinker and even when I was injured I was drinking my puerh. I can only assume that due to the amazement of my Dr. with my recovery in addition to the limited affect the infection had prior to me seeking medical attention it was all due to my shupu. As we all know, shupu is a known antimicrobial. Perhaps this in conjuction with the amount of antioxidants I am ingest all played a part to my success!

What do you think? Sorry so long!

That's awesome! Good story! Hooray for pu.... I will remember that as an excuse to keep drinking it when bad things like that happen.
Best wishes to you in your recovery, Hop.. Thanks for sharing.

Well, the only way to really know would be to repeat the experiment on the other foot after stopping drinking Puerh.

Anyway, glad to read that you recovered so fast.

Thanks guys, I just wanted to share. I am not certain if it was the pu-erh alone but it had to be something! ;)

You should've replaced those antibiotics with a double-dose of pu-erh!

Trust me! I wish I could since the antibotics make me feel so so sick!
