Everyday Oolong
I'm looking for an oolong that I can drink everyday as a good staple without spending too much of my already dwindling paychecks, after all my tea purchases. Anyone have any good recommendations?
My local tea shop has a decent $3.50/oz Big Red Robe (da hong pao) that I use for my daily quasi-gong fu session, and I can get Rishi Jade Oolong which is a really good greenish Taiwanese at my local co-op for about the same price (even though its $8 on the website?). Other than that if you can find a good Ti Guan Yin (they vary), they're usually on the cheap side and worth a few good steeps. I really think its a good idea when you're looking for a normal daily tea to look at local shops, the internet is kind of expensive but worth it for really good tea. I could get all my oolong from teaspring and houde and spoil myself but I'm way happy with what I can find around here now that I've found some good sources, and the shipping is free.

That's the same place the Nilgiri everyone is talking about comes from and I have had an excellent Margaret's Hope Estate 2nd Flush, SFTGFOP1 from there.greenisgood wrote:Yeah hop goblin, at TeaSource in St. Paul. 7.33/2oz and 13.86/4oz. I haven't had any other big red robe but I think it's pretty good stuff.
Yep that's the one! Too bad you didn't post about the Red Robe sooner, I just placed an order last night!greenisgood wrote:I dunno what the nilgiri that everyone's talking about is but if its the Glendale Handmade I would have to agree. A very interesting black tea with giant leaves, it looked almost like a white tea. I gave the last ounce or two of mine to a friend for his birthday but it was very enjoyable.
