WednesDay TeaDay 5/28/08

by Chip » May 28th, '08, 04:12

Yesterday, I asked what Mary and I should look for at the World Tea Expo...spam related since we are Mods after all? The top answer was "spam porn." TeaChatters, you all need help!!! You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Welcome to another TeaDay...2 days before Mary and I invade Vegas and the WTE!!! To help us celebrate, brew lots of tea today and come share what is in your cup today...all day! Be sure to check out what everyone else is brewing as well. Remember, if you need to, you can reflect back on your TeaDay.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic...it comes down to, do you have too much or not enough tea open right now...and would you like to change? So, share with everyone how you feel about your current open tea practice.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone on TeaDay. So, bottoms up...refill...repeat...

I always have too many open. Maybe it's a problem, maybe not. But I punish myself by drinking lots of tea. :P

Had some Kirameki about not too long ago. Just got my first Yixing today, and have been boiling it while sipping some green. :D

I still have way more tea than I know what to do with, and I continue to reign as King of Samples.

Out of control is an understatement. Once I get through all my samples, etc. I should be under control. In a perfect world, I'd like to have a few favorite black teas and one or two greens to sip occasionally. I've got the greens down ok, but way too many black teas in the cabinet...and still more coming to me in the mail.

Had some Ceylon Sonata already tonight at work. Gonna have some Chinese green in a few and a nightcap of Assam or Irish Breakfast when I get home in a couple of hours.

Am having coffee right now. Need coffeine so bad - slept too long which I can't afford, final exams coming closer and closer

Later I will move on to some Russian tea and Nilgiri. Can't wait!

Yesterday I went to a sushi place and asked what the "Japanese green tea" they served was. Got the answer "Oh, it's just usual green tea" Òrdered some and it was genmai (of course). Okey taste. BUT it came in a tetsubin and a cup much like this one:

So I enjoyed the teaware much more than the tea :P
The noise comes from the other side of the mirror

Well, at least they didn't offer you a Pepsi! The teacup looks cool though. Not a complete loss.

I have too much open, especially the pu ehr samples lying out on the counter. We should have a "shame on me thread" to confess our tea messes. The show us your tea and show off your pots and cups threads are all too staged!

I should have copied and pasted Oliverco's list and removed a couple! Then add Pu stash.

Have had Russian tea - smelt of rosebuds, tasted like caramel, isn't it wonderful how unflavored tea gives one these flavors? - and now am doing Nilgiri. Forgot to comment the poll. I have as many as Olivierco and regard it as way to few.

Sushi with pepsi, now that would be gross!

Yeah, totally worth five dollars to look at the little cutie cup. When it comes to drinking, it was hot as hell :?

I had a similar experience Sunday when we ate Japanese. The green tea they served didn't have the usual 'fishy' smell or taste but when I tried to find out what kind it was, they just said, "It comes in big bag". And like you, the teaware was better than the tea! :(

I took out enough Russian tea from the TeaPass box to try. Haven't yet because I can't get past the perfume smell. Thanx for posting about the taste. May have to try it later today.

Like everyone else, I've got too much tea open. I like having variety & being able to choose tea according to my mood so I can't complain. Having vanilla mint w/bfast this morning.

I have way too many teas open. However, the majority are sample tins. I eventually would like to have fewer teas in larger sized tins.

I'm using my new digital kitchen timer...this one has seconds on it, so it's helpful when using one of my gaiwans.

Enjoying oolong #40 today to kickstart the morning.

Pu doesn't count. You're supposed to have a lot of that!

EW, I didn't know you also drank Chinese greens! I thought you used to be all about Red Rose. It warms my heart to see you branching out.

I have too many teas open and I find myself drinking the same few over and over again, meaning that many of the teas I have open are probably not worth drinking anymore. Shame on me.

Y'all are cracking me up talking about Russian Tea. Growing up, my Mom made "Russian Tea" every Christmas. Here's her recipe:

2 cups Tang
1/2 cup instant tea
1 cup sugar
1 three oz pkg Wyler's lemonade
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves

Use 2 heaping Tbsp per mug of boiling water.

I read an interview a couple of years ago with Reese Witherspoon, a famous Southern girl, and she mentioned that her family also drinks this Southern concoction. Anyone else?

I have too much open, but I don't really mind. Most of it is sample tins. I would like to get a bit better organized, but I am working on it. I need to find the square tins I was looking at a while ago again. I have 11 of the small green ones from Stash, but now that they don't have those anymore I think I have to give those away and start over (yes, I am a bit OCD ) I would also like to find at least 16 of the Adagio sample tins but non-descript looking. They fit perfectly in a carrier thing I have. The round Upton ones are great, but they don't fit nearly as many or as neatly.

Anyway, I ramble.

This morning has been a second steep of Spring Darjeeling (left in the pot from yesterday) in my new Den's Kyusu. :) I likey.

Oh, who is going to mod while you are gone, or are new registrations just going to have to wait?

ETA: ThinkingOutLoud, that sounds...awful.

I have way too much open...out of control. But then I'm pretty much still a newbie and there is just so much good stuff!! I'm hoping to settle down soon. Oy.

In my cup this morning Organic Assam.

Have a lovely day everyone!
