WOW...the last two TeaDays have been most exciting...and record setting as well. 108 posts for the Tuesday topic, and currently at 91 for the Wednesday topic. The previous record was 82 posts for any one TeaDay topic (and likely any one TeaChat topic for 42ish hours, the shelf life of a TeaChat topic)

Yesterday's poll results were very clear, the vast majority of TeaChatters discovered tea at home. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Tea can be brewed in a simple cup/bowl, and those were around long before camellia sinesis, so i chose teaware. In my cup today... nothing, it's 12:15.

The tea came first, then the vessel. I started out with green tea bags, then rapidly advanced to loose leaf, then to whites. Somewhere in between I got a decent brewing vessel.

Trent: Were the bowls really teaware before they were used to tea?

In my cup: Sencha. Second steep now. After these leaves have give all flavor that's in them - no more Sencha in my home. Saying goodbye to it.

In my house, the tea came first. I didn't buy a teapot until a few years ago. I'd use a strainer and a mug before then...

Debating on what to have this morning. I have some Assam and Ceylon at work. I guess whichever one I grab first. I'm getting tired of this day shift already. It's too hot out there compared to my regular night shift.

Tea ware is meant for tea so tea needed to exist before the bowls, pots, and cups could be called tea ware.

The tea this morning is Casablanca Twist.

Tea first! It existed before the first leaf blew into a cup.

Started with Yunnan Gold...but will need more of something to get me going today. {YAWN}

Rou Gui

Geez, more oolong today, this time from the other end of the spectrum: Rou Gui, a Wuyi yan cha. If you’re like me, you love looking at and playing with the spent leaves. See that pile of leaves on the white saucer? Well, I spread them out just for you: Click on the photo so you can see detail of the spent leaves. On the green leaves, you can see the red marks which indicate the locations and degree of oxidation.
The pictured chataku is my precious first one, still my favorite and dearest even though I am becoming inundated with others.

Good question. For me, it was a tie. I was visiting a friend, and on my way home stopped off at her local Whole Foods.

When I got to the tea and coffee aisle, I paid close attention to the tea brewing vessels. I spent some time reading the boxes, and viewing the different teaware. I ended up purchasing this Rishi sky blue colored, 1 cup, brew-in-the-cup, and a tin of Rishi loose leaf tea. Shortly after, I placed my first order with adagio. So began my love affair with brewing tea. :D

I rarely use this cup, however, because the infuser holes seem rather large. I should use it, though, because I'm sure it would be better than using the metal infuser I use now. I probably should figure out which tea leaves I could use this for. For now, it is sitting in the back of my tea cabinet's teaware shelf.

This morning, I had a mug of Jasmine #9. Is this real jasmine-infused tea, like Jasmine #12, or is the jasmine sprayed on?

I said tea, seeing as that they couldn't specialize a device for brewing tea without the tea to specialize it to.
